starting a retirement project with my father

hey all,long time lurker, not even sure when I registered, lol. Going to be doing a Buick build with my father, probably a mid 60's riviera or and early 70's skylark.
Right now all we have is a low mileage 1975 455 that I'm slowly taking apart and cleaning. Not sure what he wants to do with the motor performance wise since I've heard the smog heads are useless. Could anyone share some links on building a mild 455 using a mid 70's block?
