Mine started out as more of a budget build. You can click on the link in my sig to see build pics to date.

Front suspension: I started with modifying the stock control arms and re-using the stock spindles. Found the brake kits on ebay for less than new. You could also go a more basic disc setup for less than the wilwoods I have.

Motor: Cheapest direction would be to stay with a carb setup. Cheaper and simpler than a LS or fuel injection setup. If you want a fuelie or LS, go with the LQ4 or LQ9 direciton (basically iron block versions of the LS2). That is what I did other than I upgraded heads and intake to LS3 setup.

Rear suspension: I broke down and went with a G-link setup, however to keep it cheap and still have good handling go with drop leafs. If I would've went drop leafs and didn't mini tub I could've saved at least $2500 not including body shop costs for fitment and welding. Wider wheels and tires are going to cost me additionally as well.

Interior: I'll be putting in a new interior but will be just reproduction of original. Other than new gauges and front seats, the rest of the interior will be stock and inexpensive. Pro-Car seats are pretty inexpensive compared to Corbeau, Sparco and Recaro.

To keep it in budget, keep it simple. Stay on track and good luck!

Yeah made a spreadsheet and listed everything out and then threw it all away once I started hanging out on this site.

I dunno man, budget and pro-touring don't seem to go together. If you're building the car in stages over a period of years then yeah you could do it. I've read a few Car Craft budget builds that were pretty sweet. Good luck bro.

These are the most accurate two statements right there.
I've dumped several thousand per year into my cars to get them where they are today.

Start with the small stuff, and work your way up.
Eventually you will have more liquid funds to invest in the hobby.

BTW LS swaps have been done for $2500 with LM7 5.3L's complete.
That's less then the cost of most aftermarket fuel injection systems and a modern engine.

Actually being on here is a good way to keep some of your costs down. I've purchased several items from the "for sale" sections and great price reductions. Keep an eye out and check often. Also, don't be afraid to post a wanted ad. You can really shave costs this way.

Its hard to not want the high $ stuff but you surely don't need it to have a fun capable car.

This is a friends 69 and its a budget build that he drives to work and often tracks & autocross it.

Hey, I forgot about those. I'm still in the under 20 club including purchase price of my 68 Camaro, and I've got a bunch of goodies I wanted.
