On Adam Carolla's Carcast website he posted some pics of a private/client track day at Laguna Seca hosted by Bruce Canepa.
I thought this was interesting, anyone have any info on it?

David, yea thats what the said on the podcast. I was thinking how bad that could have been to break at speed.

I'm sure the cornering loads imparted by those tires are well within the design parameters of that front end.

I think the snouts on those spindles are bigger than a stock camaro. Most repro round back spindles are forged but I do not know what is on this car.
True, look at the drop and then the spacers on the steering arms. That should have brake long before the spindle. Pure speculation, but it is entirely possible that a bearing seized......I would be VERY surpised if it just snapped off during a mean left hander.

Bret, hurry up and finish that thing. I have had a stupid amount of people ask me if my car was a factory five that I can't wait to beat one....:D

Hehe...you'll be at the head of the line!
It will debut at the Hotrod and Restoration Trade show in Indy in March. First driving event will likely be Goodguys Nashville.

Is it possible to get any kind of decent driving position in a car like that? I've sat in a couple and I sat high and my feet felt like they were pushing down on the pedals not forward and down. Also the steering wheel angle felt bad.

It's all in the setup....and it takes a lot of time. I don't sit low enough in mine for my tastes, I'm partial to the DSE "detroit lean" but all in all it is very comfortable. I also have swing pedals in mine instead of the standard under floor mount hot rod stuff. The biggest problem is how narrow the foot box is, especially with three pedals. Think cobra kit car. Here's some build pics of my turd you can see its relatively small compared to most muscle cars.

The seat, column and pedals wee mocked up several times before any tin was built. Most hot rods are built with a bunch of off the shelf parts and then made to work. The steering wheel is always bad in these cars, it's more like driving a bus than a car. I used a chain drive box on the firewall to get the bottom of the column up and get the steering wheel more vertical....that helped immensely over the previous "standard" setup If you approach it by putting the important stuff where it needs to go and build around those components you end up with less compromises.....that has been my experience any how.
Hope that helps
Donny
