I'm looking to do some research on pontiac disk brake conversions. I'm interested in the LS1, C5/C6 conversions and have read a TON of threads and info regarding the chevy GM 10/12 bolt swaps but have found nothing for the original 10 bolt in my 1970 pontiac GTO. If anyone could share a link to a thread I'd appreciate it.

I started doing this research after reading this statement from Tobin of KORE3..but couldn't find much else:

"it makes a difference if you're working with a BOP 10/12-bolt with positively retained axles versus a 10/12-bolt with c-clips. The center hole on the LS1 backing plates is 72mm [2.835"] and the BOP axle bearing has only a 2.75" outside diameter. What this means is that you'll need to machine a spacer to go between your original retainer (assuming it can move outward on the axle far enough) or machine your own retainer. Anything that isn't an open "C" profile or two pieces will require the removal of the axle bearings for installation."

You might take a look in the for sale section...somebody was selling Baer brackets from a BOP rear, and that would eliminate this part of the conversion.

That quote was specific to making the 98-02 LS1 F-body backing plates work with a BOP 10/12-bolt. If you're looking to convert to C5 or C6 Corvette components, then you can just buy the BOP 10/12-bolt kit from us, it's just the LS1 components that create some issues since they didn't oringally have any provisions for axle retention.

Yrs ago I've done a S-10/Blazer swap on an a-body olds rear. No special machining or spacers or bearing removal required. Bearing retainer was cut so it could be removed from the axle. There are spacers needed to take up the space of the drum backing plate and the disc mounting plate bolts on the outside of the bearing retainer.
