I forget where i found this site at but... has anyone heard of or know anything about any of these products? i am mostly interested in the "G-BRACE" and their tubular UCAs...

the gbrace is a design that Herb Adams first came up with. simply put they work. I will be getting a pair for my TA eventually. Jeremy on this board has an 80TA with those and i believe their UCAs as well. I am sure he can give you any info you need on function and quality. so far ive heard only good thing about those guys.

Jeremy if your out there...i wonder if they will fit with a bolt on hood though, it seems like they would mount really close to the hinges...? and the UCAs, which ones to go with, the competition or the other ones??

I don't know about the gbrace but I'd question buying anything from these guys considering they are selling AFCO bushings for a 30% mark up and selling AFCO style control arms for about 5X the amount AFCO gets for them.

I am running the g braces and the competition upper control arms and am very pleased with them. The quality of both was very good. In fact I would recommend if you are going to use the g braces, that you use the competition arms as well as they will make getting to the bolts to do an alignment much easier. The added castor helps straight line stability as well.
As for fitting with a bolt on hood, I think it would be even easier. One of the legs of the brace mounts to behind the fender to firewall bolt. You are right that it is close to the hinge as this was the hardest bolt to get to. Had I taken the hood and hinges off, it would have been much easier. With a bolt on hood, I would assume that you are not using hinges, so you should have plenty of room.
The other thing that is nice is that DJ will take time to talk with you and is really in to 2nd gens. I have called him several times with questions and have ended up talking for 30 minutes or more every time.
As for prices, I felt 239 for the arms was more than fair as GW and speedtech arms go for much more.

As for prices, I felt 239 for the arms was more than fair as GW and speedtech arms go for much more.Except that at least GW and Speedtech have Teflon bushings, include ball joints and come powdercoated.

The competition arms are powdercoated and can be ordered with ball joints, but mine were good so I was happy to reuse them saving me money. As for the teflon bushings, I could not find see any reason to pay that much more for them. In my mind, both were greasable solid bushings and so far the competition arms gave worked well for me.

If you will go to transamcountry.com and do a search for the braces, I posted a write up there about the install with pics. If you need more pics after reading that, let me know and I will try to get them to you.

DBZ28 has them on his car. Not sure if it's in his vbGarage though. I know there's pics on Hydratech's website. Cody, his looks like it fits fine. Right Here. (http://www.hydratechbraking.com/multimedia_gallery/MVC-289F.jpg)

Denny! I used to value your comments on this board but bashing something you know nothing about makes me re-think the validity your inputs on this board, if I remember right YOU have stock car control arms on YOUR car with no teflon bushings and you had to cut up your car to fit them second afco arms are made by the thousands and are made of thinner steel (check into it ) and as far as prices go our arms are only 2X more than afco's, I sell sets not each, and bushings at 30% mark up?! please tell me where you buy them so I can get on the same program you have?! next time you want to bash something or someone get your facts right, please!

how about where they mount on the UCA, is there a lot of clearance for headers...?

Reiner, you will have more than enough clearance for headers, the only ones that get close are tall deck SBC with 2" headers or BBC with big snaky headers.

I'll see if I still have the pics. Right now I have the extra brace installed tying the two braces together and pics won't show much. The braces did clear my stock power brake booster and AC.
I had to pull my compressor to install the brace. If I had it to do over again, I would pull the hood and hood hinges. It would make things much easier.
I love the control arms. There should be more clearance for headers than with factory arms. Mine aligned with no shims on either side, saving me a lot of room.
Overall I am very pleased with the quality of parts from pro-touring-fbody. The service is first rate. I don't know how many times I have shot him an email on various subjects and he has been quick to respond. I have bought the arms and braces from him, but don't consider that to be a whole lot, yet he is always willing to chat.

I have The Herb Adam brace on My Z .They Work with the Hydroboost the only Mod was I made new brake lines out of the booster. As Far as a stock set up they fit fine with no mods at all. I really don,t know how close the G brace is made to the Herb Adams Brace It looks like a little nicer brace But rember Herb adams Brace was made 25 years ago Picture of set up is under vbgarage under DB Z28
