New Member Livin in Georgia with 69 Camaro

I joined Lateral g about 2 months ago and started drooling over all the sick cars. I caught the bug and my bank account has felt the brunt of the pain. I have always had muscle cars but never a pro touring car, so the hunt began. I found Jon (firstgencam) here about 6 weeks ago. I almost bought his "beater" 69 camaro but Stielow beat me to it. So I had to settle for a more complete car. I did some trading and dealing with Jon on my 1971 Chevelle for the 69 camaro seen in the pics. It was built by Chris Quesada in Riverview,Fl. Although it has won multiple on top of multiple trophies, I want to make it my own. My plan is to take out the 383 stroker with the supercharger and put in a LS motor with A/C and suspension upgrades. I was referred here from Joe (Bulldawg Muscle Cars). Once the work starts I will post more pictures. I just wanted to Officially join the site and share my new car. Enjoy. If any suggestions please let me know.

was actually thinking about your car more! lol... I was thinking (if you're daring enough) of like some type of 8 or 10 spoke pro touring looking wheels like rushforths or something. Probably 18's but as big as a lip as possible in back. Now here's the key. Paint the centers like an off white/cream color to resemble the interior. I think it would look insane and definitely not like everyone elses!

yep go rushforth wheels do a big BRAKE kit also check out speedtech.com they have a bunch of kool parts keep us posted also add billet hood and trunk hinges

your interior has a very classy look to it and the wheels look great but just pull it back in time a few too many years (no offense intended). I think doing a wheel with the polished lip and off white centers will give the car an entirely new look and tie it into the interior as well as turn it to cutting edge! I can't stop thinking about it so obviously I am biased now!

Sounds good! Rushforth makes some really nice wheels...we have 2 cars in the shop right now that are definitely getting Rushforths, and a 3rd that is very likely. The first set should be showing up in a couple of weeks. You might want to check out Boze also.

there will definitely be some that hate it! but you just said two words that should tell you what to do... "crazy, love." if everyone likes it then it's just a fad! make sure there is as much lip as possible on the wheels!

Update: Just purchased a LS2/4L70 setup from Travis (Daytonayellaz). The setup is coming form a Trailblazer SS. He is making a CUSTOM wiring harness, putting on a LS2 car intake with fuel rails and injectors. This harness will exceed any harness on the market today. Contact him for info. Joe and the team at BullDawg Musclecars has pulled the 383 motor and powerglide tranny and it will soon be for sale. It has 195cc AFR heads and a hydraulic roller cam. More details to come as they find them out. Joe is currently cleaning the engine compartment so it is ready for the LS2 when it arrives. I would just like to thank Travis for the quality parts and Joe for the quality workmanship.

Looks like we're overdue for an update. The LS2/4L70E should be here later next week; they are shipping the engine and trans with the new harness and computer (pre-programmed through Travis), an LS2 passenger car-style intake, and a Mast Motorsports pan.

Once it gets here, we'll be doing a quick cam swap, some detailing, and installing it with BRP mounts and 1 7/8 long tube headers. We got the Kwik Performance accessory brackets in this week, as well as a set of gauges from Marshall, since we needed an electronic speedo (or a more expensive Cable-X bos to drive the mechanical one), and no longer had a need for a boost gauge.

Someone is supposed to be coming to pick up the old engine today...turns out, it was a 350, not a 383. The blower (bad seals), and the old transmission (Powerglide with a 9" convertor) are up for sale still.

I'll put up some pics as soon as the shipment from Travis gets here!

Great update Joe! Very excited to get this to you so you can get Jarrod back on the road. I know he is excited to get back in the drivers seat with the new power plant! I talked with him early this week about a cam swap...looks like he voted in favor of..:cool: Post up the specs on the cam you guys chose to go with also...when you get a chance. Which headers are you guys going with on this one? I will get you some tracking info on everything on Monday... Have a great weekend!

Still working on the cam specs, but for headers we will be using 1 7/8 BRP/Musclerods long tubes. We have used them on plenty of LS builds, and they always fit and work out really nice. BTW, I'll be calling you on some harness work soon! Thanks!

The harness (also supplied by Travis) looks great! It was already installed on the engine when we received it, so all we have to do is plug in the computer leads, and connect these wires...all of which are marked. A diagnostic port and a red LED warning light for the "check engine" are also included. This is the first harness from Travis that I have seen, and I will be ordering from him in the future!

A little update...we got the coil relocation brackets in today (pics later), and over the weekend a customer saw Jarrod's old engine and wants to buy it! We'll be installing it in his '72 Corvette in the near future. The Vette is a 4 speed small block, with no AC and no PS, so it should be a really fun car!
The BRP/Musclerods swap kit and headers should be here in a couple of days, so we can get into the swap! I Can't wait to drive it with LS2 power!

Unfortunately, the MAST Motorsports pan that was included on this engine isn't going to work...it hits the steering linkage. We'll use the LH8 pan (the GMPP "Musclecar" pan kit), and fix this issue. I hadn't ever tried this swap with a MAST pan before. I use the GMPP pan on nearly everything, with no issues, and its way cheaper at about $140.

Wow, looks like we are way overdue for an update! As some of you may already know, back in late May we found out that the shop across the street from us was available, and since it was much nicer and twice the size, we jumped on it! We spent a good bit of June preparing, and moved in July 1. We didn't get much done on our projects during that time, but this one is almost complete! I will try to get some pics up tomorrow!

The coils were relocated to the rear of the head, so we could run the GMPP Camaro valve covers. We built the coil covers from steel, and built the spark plug wires using MSD components.
