We've finally realized our dream of owning my dream car, 1970 Pontiac Firebird. Slightly built 400, stock turbo 350 trans and looking very good. Slowly but surely we will be saving up and buying what parts we can to make a nice lil pro touring Bird outta this machine, time will tell though!! Thank for having us and for having such an awesome site!! I've been lurking for awhile and finally decided to say hello and get into these forums a little. Is there a way to post pictures of our rides? Off I go to adventure all over this lil site!! Thanks again!! :smoke:

Welcome! More Michiganders! You will like it here. Lots of great people and some incredible knowledge and talent. The 2nd gen birds are getting more and more attention also, so do some looking and researching. There is a lot you can do to improve the performance of your car without spending a ton of money.
I have a '73 that will get some major attention as soon as the van is done....
I am in the Flint area so not that far from you.

I do have a few pics of it, with more to come soon as the snow quits, but, not to sound like a total dumb @ss here but.. i can't figure out how and where to post them, I'll get it though!! VERY nice to see Michigan folks here also!! I've got a fairly large "wish list" that my wife has helped me put together, I figure it's gonna take about 4-5 yrs to get everything totally done that we want to do with it. But I will get it done during the winter, and always try my hardest to have whatever winter project I choose to do 100% complete by spring time so I don't miss any cruise time!!

Welcome from another Grand Rapids area guy. To post a picture click the go advanced button. Above the post box in the second row of options is a insert image(it's under the smilie face and next to the one that looks like old movie film). Choose from computer or from url and click select file if from computer or enter url and ok if online photo is wanted.

Nice! Burgundy Firethorn Metallic? That was the original color on my '73. White vinyl top and interior. I pulled the top off in '79 and fixed about 3 yards worth of surface rust, stripped her down and put on Dupont Black Laquer w flip flop blue flames. My first paint job and it was beautiful!
Good luck with your Bird. Looks like a nice clean start.

Thanks everyone!!

Mark, I'm not 100% sure what the name of that color is. I'm the 3rd owner and the 2nd owner painted it 2 yrs ago. I do know the original color was green in and out. I'm very happy with this color, WAY happy it's not the original paint and interior colors!!

Welcome. Back in the late 80s I would vist my buddy on Lake Louise in Ortonville all the time in my Firebird "Thing". Primer grey, twin scoop hood and I added the shaker too after I put Caddy 500 in front of the 4 speed.

I love seeing the old iron being saved there. So much rust its easier to work on newer cars but the satisfaction is just not the same.
