On the Chevy upper ball joint 4-hole mount holes, is there a better looking grade 8 replacement bolt available? I don't like the look of the typical hex bolt.

You can buy hardened stainless steel or even hardened chromed bolts. Figure around $5 a piece.

We use some 12 pt head black oxide on our 3rd Gen strut mounts. They look pretty trick.

How about alloy steel socket head cap screws.

YES!! I like the 12 point or socket head fasteners. Im suspect of ANY SS or chromed fasteners for critical suspension parts. Stainless steel is NOT high carbon steel and the carbon content IS what makes quality fasteners so strong, well along with some other proprietary ingredients :) But a lack of carbon (most stainless steel) does NOT make for a good structural fastener. Not to say you cant get some very strong fasteners in SS or some other exotic (read EXPENSIVE) metals. But if you are not paying 10-20 bucks a piece for some 1/4-20 stainless fasteners then they are just offshore "hotrod" gimmicks. Not something I would want to trust my life to. And chrome fasteners? No, those are great for fenders or head lights, NOT suspension work IMO.. JR

yeah, I wouldn't do stainless. These are nice. Black finish Chromoly. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ARP-100-7503/ I leave the washers off, its shouldered and works great with taper lock nuts @ .812 puts 4 threads past the nut
