Hello everyone, this is my first post. I just bought a 1970 Camaro to build with my 14 year old son. My question is can anyone out there decode Van Nuys cowl codes. There was only one build sheet on the car and it crumbled. The car was definetly a V8, but it has no engine. It has a 10 bolt rear end and a Saginaw 4spd. I think it's a plain jane V8, but it does have a 150mph speedometer and an oversized fuel line. Can anyone out there help? If someone knows these cowl codes let me know and I'll post it. Thanks

Welcome to the site! Good to see another 70 camaro.. Im building one also. My car is a LA car as well. The cowl tag on a LA car has very limited info on it. You will get the body build date, interior and exterior color and thats about it. Based on your description it does sound like a base car. Post some pics of the tag and the car. I will help where I can.

Where did you find the sheet ? Above the gas tank or behind the seat ?

@daytona, I'll get some pics up soon. It's pretty straight, but no motor and typical rust on dash and winshield frame. It was mist green w/dark green vinyl top. I think I might build it back as a z28.
@solarguy, I found the tag on the gas tank, but it was little more than dust. the car had a real bad upholstery job so that tag was gone, if it was ever there. I've also heard of them being in the dash, but not on mine.
Anyone heard of a place to get good RS nose pieces? If i'm gonna go away from original I might as well go Rs if there's a place for good nose pices.
