Hi folks, we are a new sponsor of Pro-Touring.com and we are excited to tell you about a sick new show we are producing about custom builders. It was shot in a cinematic style, spared no expense, and you can watch it right now in 1080p HD.

It's called Creating Customs, and we'll feature a brand new shop each episode.

In this first episode we feature Squeeg's Kustoms, a shop that got it's start waaaaaay back in 1964.

What did you think about our direction?

My best,

It must just be me, because I don't get the appeal unless I've already had some sort of relationship with the shop being interviewed. Every shop is going to say things like "attention to detail", "build the most innovative...", "we treat every build as if it's our own car/motorcycle". Other than the very nice camera work showing some of the builds in progress, I could just as easily watch these episodes without sound so far. Where is the sizzle? Where's the story? The tempo of the music and interviews loses my attention in the first 30 seconds. I know my opinion is like everyone else's and smelly, but it's too slow for me to stay tuned for 10 minutes.

I've never heard a song, seen a movie, or watched a TV show that appealed to everyone. So, no worries on your feedback. It's either something you want to see, or it isn't. Look at Creating Customs as the "anti-TV-show". We wanted to create an interesting piece of work, minus the hype, without the staged drama or fake "ticking clock" scenarios we are inundated with. It's short form documentary filmmaking that takes you behind the scenes at these shops, and you get to learn things about them, their shop, and their work, that you would never have really known unless you knew them personally.

Thanks for the compliment on the camera work. ;-)

I like that it's not an hour long episode with the people talking about how great they are. I also like the discussion / monologue about each shop, but more of what I like to see are the employees & owners fabricating, assembling, et cetera. Of course each shop will be saying things to position themselves in a positive light, but the product that is shown and that leaves the shop speaks more about their level of work than the words they use. I don't know if it would be in the cards, but I would like to see a show that covers a build from start to finish on a single project. I'm sick and tired of the hour long tv episode build, and the super-duper-crazy-fast build where it's done in short time. I'd rather watch a build that takes time, has ups and downs, and see how a shop solves the inevitable problems that true builders face day to day, and have to solve. I know I'm probably in the minority, but I find peace in a nice, long build even if it's mostly a camera following someone working on a single part for an hour with almost no talking. I enjoy watching other hard-working American's work on projects.

One of the shows I really enjoyed on Speed a while ago was Build or Bust. Much of the show highlighted building (albeit by a novice usually) a bike, but it had interesting camera shots and spent a lot of time focusing on the parts, fabrication and assembly. I could care less about the Pimp My Ride style of antics, or the American Hot Rod or American Chopper arguments or conflict. I would rather watch a show where people love what they do, and take pride in their work, and take the time to do it right. Maybe that is a sign of me getting older :P

Thanks. Me too. We think the documentary style lends itself well to being authentic and making a good use of the viewers time.

Cool episode. Any plans for any Pro-Touring type build shops? There are some really talented people that are members of this site. It would be cool to see some of them on camera.

I was thinking the same thing! It would also be interesting to see some manufacturers like Forgeline, DSE, Ridetech, Boze, Wilwood, etc.

Really good, I especially like that the guys in first shop kept expressing how they enjoy their job. When I was builder for Year One I woke up every morning looking forward to going to work (even with a 2 1/2 hour commute). I'm glad to see that image coming across, instead of the American Choppers and American Hot Rods image with all of the tension in the shop. I'm looking forward to seeing complete episodes.

Great production. Subtle direction. Like the doco style. Yes you could view the interviews and shop talking about themselves as self promotion but I am left with one thing that washes over all that and makes it all ok in my book....... Passion! You are left with no question that these guys are passionate about their work and take pride in producing the best. Some can argue all day long about who is better than whom but at the end of the day - it's all a notch above the mainstream and I say again - clearly it is driven by the passion these people have for what they do. It's one of those things in my opinion - I will often watch something or listen to someone who is clearly passionate about their "thing" (whatever that happens to be), even if it's not normally something I would be interested in. It's what produces "art". I don't think that would come across without the style/production.

I say well done. Keep 'em coming!

The one thing I am left with
