I have a single Optima red top battery now, and am wondering if there would be of any benefit to running two of these. I don't plan to have a super powerful stereo or anything, but just wanted extra juice if we went to a show somewhere and the kids wanted to keep the DVD player going while the car was off... Would they be wired in parallel?

Thanks,

If you wanted to run them together it would have to be done in a parallel circuit. I recommend running the second as a slave with an automatic isolator so the alternator will charge both but the engine runs off one and the electronics runs off the other.

Ok, I found some - any recommendations as to brand or power rating?
Thanks,

Tom, what kind of isolator did you end up using?

I considered the 2 battery approach based on the electric requirements (fuel pump, water pump, A/C, upgraded headlights, EFI computer, dual fans, windows, mirrors, possibly a stereo, etc). Its not really necessary anymore. There are single batteries that will get the job done. Here is what I went with ;

With a Powermaster 200 amp alternator, I think Ill be good to go.
