Anyone work for GM, or GM race shop?

Head of service dept spoke to a guy at some GM tech dept in regards to the GMMP LS2 controller I have from the controller kit. He said that the LS2 controller will also work with a 2010 or newer gold black LS3 throttle body.

Hoping to find someone to confirm/deny this. I know the production vehicle LS2 ECM won't work with the LS3 throttle body, I know it's not a factory flash in the ECM & the GMMP part could possibly do things the production one will not.

A tuner with the correct knowledge should be able to do it.

I did speak to a tuner & he told me that the LS3 throttle body (Gold blade) had different parameters that the LS2 (silver blade) throttle body did & it could not be "tuned" to work with it. He can only work with the parameters that are there, not make it work with something it wasn't designed for.

Kindof like hitting the Windows key & the right arrow are Windows 7, makes the window doc on the right half of the screen. Can't do that in older versions of Windows.

I am the tuner Scot has been working with and I would be curious as to know if someone has this info also. Here are my thoughts based on past experience.

The older GMPP crate engines that came with the controller package had a gold blade TB on them. They also had a silver blade TB supplied with it and instructions said to install the silver TB to be compatible with the controller and do not use the gold blade TB.

There are some TB parameters that can be changed in HPT such as mm2 effective area, but there are some items in the OS for the TB that can not be gotten to.

The newer crate engines now utilize the gold TB and have a different part number ECM which also has the proper OS and mm2 effective area already set up.

Corvette ECM's have one part number for 2006-08 and then changed in 2009 which is also the same year the gold TB came into use.

Just some observations and curious to see what comes out of this thread and anything can be helpful.

Have you tried contacting gmpp about the issue?? The only different between the ls2 and ls3 controller kits are the computers (im sure it's just the tune that separate's them) and it seems silly they would only work with the silver blade TB when most ls3's have the new gold blade.

*I know of a guy who did a ls3 top end conversion (TB included) on his 06 vette and says everything is working fine..So I would imagine its possible to accomodate the tune for the TB.*

I think what you are going to have to do is just try it Scot. I do not think it will hurt anything and it will most likely work and run, just may not work correctly. I think you have one of both TB's, so you should be set either way.

I agree, I'm just going to have to try it & see what happens. I have the LS3 gold throttle body & an LS2 Trailblazer SS throttle body, but for some reason it wouldn't fit, I think it was hitting the outlet on the waterpump.
