Whats the deal with 1981 or older? No cars newer than 81 are allowed?

Also, what specificly is the difference between the fast and slow run groups?(no generalizations, specifics here)

How big is the field going to be?

How many runs are we going to get?

X2 on the pre 1981 only. I know there were a couple of late models there last year and I have a buddy with a third Gen F-body that has been looking forward to this for a while.

I want to bring my 89 Camaro this year. I attended last year as a passenger. What can be done about this? Can I at least cruise it?

I need to figure out what day to go. I can only afford one day.

I would rather autocross all day and not do the road course, I really dont want to buy the extra safety equipment right now and only have a lap belt.

From the American Street Car Series website... in response to that exact question...

The plan will be to place a chicane or 2 on the long straights to keep the overall speed down. You will still be timed and will still be able to run all out in your group but will be entering the turns at the end of the straights at a slower speed than the unlimited group.

I would really love to know about this as well, as it was OK last year.
It was also OK for post 81 cars to enter RTTA. Which I entered and paid for without even having full confirmation on exactly what I'm getting, or the rules (whih were posted later) but based totally on last years RTTC experience.
From ASCS own website: http://americanstreetcarseries.com/?page_id=26

We do not care what year/make/model of car you bring to any of our events, although we prefer American muscle cars. As you know, ASCS was created to bring like-minded people getting together to chat and fellowship about our sport. ASCS strongly encourages you to meet more people who enjoy the hobby; we feel that life-long friendships and networking is more important than competing and winning; therefore, bring whatever car makes you feel comfortable and enables you to have the most fun.
I also remember something to the effect of the series being open to everyone was stated at the Pro-touring.com banquet in November.
I get that it's a protouring event, and technically my 88 isn't a protouring car, but it's what I've got.
I went ahead and registered. I assume that there will be some sort of alternate list should not enough "legitimate" contenders show up.

If we got five 3rd gens, do you think we could get a class in the chicane group?

if you register, any year car will be good to go!

Seriously guys, RTTC registration has been opened two days and we have 50 registered. Sign up now or you will probably miss this one.

Bill,

I have yet to receive a definitive answer. I only have a lap belt; will I be able to autocross? If so can I autocross all day?

Remembering last year's event, I'd say there will be cars there than can beat on the new cars AND a lot of the older ones too. This is just the incentive to continue the build plan on that 79 TA sitting in the barn....

To Bryce, You're probably going to have to wait and run with your group. Regardless of your equipment, you gotta go in sequence.

Bryce

Bill answered this on lateral-G, here is his response.

Lap belt only will be allowed to run, just at a reduced speed on the roadcourse. However, to answer the question, yes, you could autocross all day if you like.

I signed up and got a note saying my application was received but never got the information for paying which was going to be sent separately.
Bill, I am in the same boat as Rob I signed up with the Cobra but may have to bring the GT because I am changing the Cobras front wheel width and it may not be done by March.
I should know by early February is that Ok?

Unless this has changed, camping overnight hasn't been allowed at El Toro events. Motorhomes, etc., have had to leave the site and then return the following morning. Trailers can stay on the grounds.

Rob ... a lot of people stay at the La Quinta about a mile away. Their parking lot is suitable for your motorhome and you're still close to the event site.

I want to register but I use 180 treadware tires. I need 200 or more to compete. They said I can go out for fun. But I would want to keep track of my times for my own records.

Timing your laps isn't a problem but they won't be announced or included in tally since you will not be on 200TW. No need to compare your times to those on 200TW. I will have those numbers for your eyes only though.

Nope. Goodguys is the one that uses 180.

Most people at RTTC used one of three tires that I saw last year.... NT05, RT615K, or KDW's.
