I got a 65 mustang HT that I have started building, thought you guys might be interested in what Iam doing. This is my second car, besides all the daily drivers. I also have a 67 mustang that allmost finished, it got a 463 FE stroker and a toploader. Iam no expert in building cars, i madde this thread to also get som tips in the progress.

This new project, the 65HT will be built with the weight in mind. Fiberglass fenders, hoods, front and no unnecessary weight. I want the car to be street legal, I hope it wount be a problem but I need to work with the regulatoryes to make it happend. The plan is lightweight flex-form rear springs, with wattslink and torqe arm/damper. In front I want to use a TCP susspension. Fender flares to make room for some rubber, and wheeltubs in the back. I will do some chassis stiffening, cage, boxed frame, torque boxes and subframes. This will sertenly add some extra kilos but its for a good cause:)

There is some rust on the car, at first I thought I only had to replace the floor, but there has been done some bad work on the car by ohter owners. So I will replace the floor, trunk, wheel houses, quaterpanles, rocker panel on driver side, firewall and taillight panel. The rear part of the rear frame have been fixed. But the frame was welded in wrong and I had to cut it, re align it and weld the frame in the correct position. When I had the frame in the correct place I boxed the frame and welded a square tubing instead of the panel they are connected to in the back, then boxed the frame around the tubing. The car has't been on the road since the 80's, back then the car had a extra set of lights. A previous owner have welded a plate for the old lights but I wanted to change the panel.

Apparently that whole "extra set of tail lights" was a popular theme back in the day.

My first Mustang, a '67 Coupe, had an extra set installed too. Hideous. I think I burned the pics so I'd never have to look at them again.

As you can see I change the rear quater panel on the driver side.
