Has anyone done a PT Chevy Caprice before?

What year? Personally, I'd LOVE to build a '77-'79 two-door, with the Aero rear window. Shove a disc-brake rear out of a whale-body Caprice under the back, 12" brakes up front, 17" Impala SS wheels, and an LT1/6-speed combo. :) Put some F-body buckets and a console in it and call it good!

I thought about doing mine, but changed my mind ('68 fastback, bigblock, disc, hideaways...). If your looking for a starting point, check out my VBGarage, and then email me.

I have a 1985 Caprice Classic 4 door.It still has the original 305/700R4
criuse control,ac,tilt wheel pw,rdef, pdl, intermittent wipers trunk release. I am the 2nd owner I bought it last January from the original owner. After I make all the improvements I want to drop a big block in it.

I had started on a '83, but the project kind of ran out of steam and then I discovered open tracking-a 3000 pound Nova started looking really good after that! For a big, somewhat luxurious PT car, the Caprice is ideal. The front suspension is very similar to a 2nd gen Camaro, and the rear is a c4l like the Chevelles. A good source of info is the Impalassforum, the suspension stuff directly translates. Beware though, the favored rear set up there is binding hell. Search for c4l here or on teamchevelle.
One thing I found interesting was the build quality on the car, it was notably better than any other Chevy I've messed with. The Caprice was the top of the line for Chevy, I think it showed.
If you have any questions I'd be glad to help out, I still kinda wish I followed through on it.

Working on a 2 door 78 right now.
Here's one I did for a sketchpad in the June 05 Super Chevy along with some other cool g-machine ideas. The thought was a phantom Impala SS. If Chevy can do it to a cop car, why can't you? It would be cool and make people take a second look.

My '95 caprice wagon will be a mild PT car / tow-rig when it's done... now it's just a parts-hauler.
4700 pounds, but a near 50/50 weight bias :D
Bone stock LT1/4L60 with 2.56s will run 15.7s... enough to outrun many imports :)

I had an 81 Caprice 2 door. Brown with black 17" wheels. It also ran 11.70 in the 1/4. All the suspension parts on my Caddy were on it first.
