For SEMA 2011, we set out to use the best bolt-on parts available in the aftermarket to create the ultimate upgraded stock subframe - and we're offering a killer deal on it to one lucky 1st Gen owner. The subframe has never been installed - everything is brand new.

We started with a brand new, OEM-replacement subframe from AMD. The performance upgrades are centered around the all-new Proforged CamberTech Tubular Upper and Lower Control Arms. The geometry-corrected upper arms utilize a stock-car style ball joint and the lower arms feature Delrin bushings and a truss-style coil over mount for full shock travel. The Tubular Upper and Lower Control Arms won't be available until March 2012 - so you'll be the only one on the block running this setup until then.

We're not selling anything off this subframe individually, but we've listed the prices below so you can see how much the whole package would cost to replicate. The package price is at the bottom.

Specs:

AMD OEM-replacement subframe ($1149)
Proforged CamberTech Tubular Upper Control Arms ($649 - estimated)
Proforged CamberTech Tubular Lower Control Arms ($599 - estimated)
Ridetech Triple Adjustable CoilOver Shock System ($1350)
Ridetech Tall Spindles ($350)
DSE Camber Shim Track Kit ($85)

Proforged Billet Aluminum Tie Rod Adjusting Sleeves ($69)
Totally Stainless High Strength Stainless Steel Hardware ($269)
PST Forged Aluminum Hubs and Brackets for C6 Corvette Brakes ($399)
6-Piston C6 Z06 Corvette Calipers ($983)

Zack,

What could I expect as a result of this set-up compared to my current set-up? I have the stock Sub-frame with all the Hotckiss up-grades. Also, I currently already have the Bear 6P brakes and would those transfer over without issue?

Hi Bob,

You would notice a large handling improvement. The Hotchkis setup is great - don't get me wrong - but it still has the backwards factory camber curve. Our setup is designed to correct that backwards camber curve to deliver a very significant improvement in handling.

There are a few main differences:

1. You're starting with an all-new subframe - you original subframe has 40+ years on it. I'm sure you have some degree of frame sag etc with your original unit.
2. Our upper control arms are caster-slug adjustable, meaning you can dial in a lot (or a little) caster. I believe the Hotchkis arms do not have this.
3. Our upper arms use a extra-tall upper ball joint, which corrects the camber curve. This is the single biggest difference. A setup that uses stock ball joints and stock spindles does not change the dynamic suspension geometry.
4. This uses a coil over setup vs. the Hotchkis is conventional shock and spring. Our setup will be lighter.
5. Not sure what steering box you're running, but we have the Delphi 670 box on here - the best one you can get.
6. Yes, you can absolutely use your Baer setup!

Is the subframe painted or powdercoated?

Should I just put it on the credit card? :)

Is the subframe painted or powdercoated?

I'm guessing that they electrocoat it, which is more common for OEM-type parts like this. I don't think it's painted traditionally, and it doesn't look like powder coating to me. I don't see any specs on the coating in their literature.

It's a nice finish.

Wow, great deal. Wish this was up a few years ago when I was doing my upgrades.

I sent you a PM about availibility of your upper control arms 5 days ago but didn't hear back. Were these one off or will they be coming to market?
Btt for you. GLWS

Any details on roll center changes?

Also curious. Whats the roll center, instant center, scrub radius, and bump steer look like?

Hi all,

The subframe has been sold!

With regard to the control arms - we are running production on the ball joints still. We'll keep everyone advised as to when they are ready to ship - probably a couple months still at this point.

Geometry-wise - these will end up somewhere in the middle of a 0.50" taller ball joint and a tall spindle (usually 1.50" taller) - the ball joint in our arms is 0.90" taller.

If you are running tall spindles, we will use a standard height ball joint pin - in this case, the main benefit to these arms will be more wheel clearance, more caster, and low-friction bushings.

Hope this helps!
