Anyone know what sending unit to use in a stainless steel efi gas tank for a 1973 Camaro? I have not had any luck getting in contact with the people at Rick's Tanks and figured someone here may know.

It depends on your gauge. universal sending units are available from nearly every gauge manufacturer. Just match the ohm reading to whatever you are running.

Thank you. I plan to use the stock gauge so can I use a stock sending unit?

Thank you. I plan to use the stock gauge so can I use a stock sending unit? You will more than likely have to have a custom sending unit made for the gauge to be accurate. One of the problem is the sending units put in those tanks is not designed for a tank that tall. So the range of motion, from E to Full, doesn't necessarily correlate to whats actually in the tank. You can have a custom one made based on the depth of your tank for around $125-$150 shipped. For the life of me I can not remember the name of the company, but I got the number from Rick's Hot Rod Shop. They built my Vaporworx tank, which needed the have the sending unit replaced also....

Not necessarily true. The aftermarket sending units for the tanks like Rick's uses the standard five bolt unit. There are a couple that you can get that are adjustable. Measure your tank and cut off the excess according to the instructions. Here is one example http://www.summitracing.com/parts/VDO-226008/

Universal sending unit for 0 to 90 ohm is what you need. AutoMeter, VDO, Classic Instruments, etc all have them. They are like $40. They all come with easy to follow instructions that and dimensions are based on tank depth.
