Are there any good very low profile seat tracks out there??? I have a coupe of different seats that I would like to use in my 67 'Bird vert. But, they sit way to high when using normal seat tracks. The two seats I have are 2000 Trans Am seats, driver elect and pass manual. I havent tried removing the stock tracks and trying my original 67 tracks yet. And a set of 1975 Deluxe Trans Am "Horsecollar" seats that I tried using my 67 tracks. But they sit VERY high on them.

From looking at both seat bottoms the 2000 may work with my stock 67 tracks since the track mount points are recessed back into the seat bottoms similar to the original 67 seats. But the 75 track mount points are about 1/2-1" lower than the seat bottoms. I really like both seats for different reasons. But am almost ready to give up and find a good rebuildable set of 69 Camaro/Firebird seats.

Any thoughts ???

Seat tracks are funny in that you have to look at it in a different light.

From what I can tell from your post, the 2000 seats have mounting points reccesed? If so tackle that first. Find out what it takes to make a flush mounting point or slightly higher/lower however you look at it. This can be done by using flat stock, maybe. I say maybe becuase Im not sure if the 2000 seats mounting points align with the 67 tracks. take measurements from left to right and front to rear to compare.

If they dont, then use some flat stock. More then likely youll want to run the flat stock from left to right rather then front to rear of the 2000 seat mounting points.
For mock up purposes, make sure the flat stock is a bit wider then the seat and is able to rest on the 67 tracks. Blot the 67 tracks in, now set the seat on the old tracks, see if you like how it looks. If it needs to be lower, then tackle that.

If they sit right for you, next step is to measure the old seat tracks mounting points, again start with right to left, transfer the measurement to the flat stock you have attached to the 200 seats, if you can narrow your stock then do so and drill your holes for the stock mounting points.

If the stock mouinting points area longer measurement from front to back, find out the difference. You may have to use wider stock to catch the front to rear points.

Im pretty sure this has been done before, you may check some other sites as well, Im not sure about a pre-made track for this set up, but a memeber may share some info as to what they have done.

Hope this helps a bit.

I found that using the stock 2000 tracks. But I sit too high in my vert. I may try and see if I can get my stock tracks to work and sit a little lower. If not I'll sell them and get some 69 seats.

My experience is that to get them to sit low or at the angle you need for our cars that you need to do a bit of fabricating on the mounts. Mine are lear siegler contour seats from an '82 Firebird and I ended up drilling out the rivets on the mounting tabs and just used the slider portion. I then made a mount out of 1" square tubing to the height and angle that was comfortable and welded it to the seat sliders. Works well, the back of the set is just about sitting on the floor and the front is about 2 1/2 inches higher.
