Well, I was out with a friend yesterday treasure hunting at the local salvage yards. I saw a pile of 9" rears and found this one. Factory 3 link, disc brakes, and has these cool vented backing plates. The best part, $175.

It says removed from 76 Lincoln but I don't beleive it. It has a speed sensor on the yoke which I think is ABS or cruise. Either way, I could not pass up for the Camaro. It will be way easier to install than the 12 bolt I was going to use.

I won't be using the offset link. I will be using a center link so I can retain back seats. Now to get this thing stripped and mounted under the car!

i may have a bit of bad news for you, that looks like it is actually from a 76 lincoln and is probably a 9-3/8" and not an actual 9". the sensor you spoke of may actually be for ride height controls if i remember right. the housing is probably just fine but the center section is basically junk if it is a 9-3/8" rear since there is no aftermarket support for that rearend and the factory gear choices are very limited with a 3.00 or maybe 3.08:1. i believe you can put a 9" chunk in the 9-3/8" housing but i've only read that and never actually seen it sone. also i they only came with 28 spline axles and there was no 31 spline option for them. check the bolt pattern, if it is the truck/big car 5x5 i would say with almost certainty it is the 9-3/8". sorry to be the bearer of bad news if it turns out i'm right. i hope i'm not, but in this case i don't think i am

Done some research since I posted this thread. Carrier is a standard 9". I wasn't concerned about the axles since they will be replaced with Moser units and the gears would be changed. I was just happy I found a real 3 link rear end that I would not have to make a bunch of modifications to. Although, after more measuring, I will be moving the lower control arms inward to clear the huge meats.

There is typically a metal tag bolted on the chunk studs. 2nd row, middle number will tell you whether its a "9" or something different. Now if i could only find a way to decode the tag to find out what car it came from....having some major trouble doing that if anyone has any ideas.
