65 Nova Street/Drift

Here is a project from sweden, i hope you all will enjoy it as much as i do.
I bought the car as a rollin chassie. The plannes are to build it as a street car with a modern ls1 engine and a t56 6-speed manual transmission.

The engine and transmission arrived from a wrecked camaro, so now i can begin with the installation :-)

I am building a 62 Nova myself.

BMW is 5x120mm, Chevy is 5x4,75"which equals 120,65mm..... for backspacing you usually look for 5 or 7 series wheels. I use BMW wheels on my Camaro too, these are aftermarket for BMW I think.

the engine and transmission has been lifted in and out now a couple of thousands times for meassuring :) cut out some "home made special" engine mounts and welded them in.

The car is from the beginning sold in sweden in 1965 with a 6 cylinder engine and manual transmission, in the beginning of the 90´s the car took a turn in to becoming a race car. So for many years it was rebuilt into a circuit track car and the owner before me raced with it in a "historic car" class. So all the chassie work was allready done when i bought it, but without engine and transmission, no interior etc etc
I´ve used to drive dragracing with my old car, an 65 malibu so this time i´m aiming for a street car with a solid thrustful engine and trans that i can drive many many miles with :)

after some measuring i´ve started the construction of my headers, i had som old ones that i cut up to pieces so i had some tubes to start from. i took the headers plates from the original exhaust manifolds. I will weld the rest and wrap them with bandage later.

Very nice! I like the front fender treatment and will be interested to see what you have planned for the fender vents.

Made some preparation before i install my engine for good. Painted the firewall and i also tried to get some nice finish on the rear shocks and some other parts. The front end is from an c4 corvette and the rear end is from a jaguar xj12.

Dig the white springs. Also interested in how you "finish" off the front fender vents. I have been kicking around the idea of doing something similar on my Falcon.

Lowfast: My front fenders is made of glassfiber so it wasn't so hard, i just took the sticksaw ;-)

I love this build, looks like a fun car! Are those shocks adjustable? Looks like there's an adjustment screw on them.

Made a floor in the trunk and mounted my fuelcell. Rear shocks are back on place, enginge installed. Transmission mocked up and a bracket for that is made and welded. Nice to get things on there right place.

Transmission is on it's way in, the engine electric is far away from done but im working on it. I've got some new rims (8.5" wide in the front and 10" in the back) and i'm also installed the hydraulic clutch from a c5 corvette.

Thank's, the rims are from the bmw e34 model they are called "y-rondell" or atleast in sweden they are.

It's all about doing the hours in the garage :) The engine electric is coming together made a box for all the fuses, only for the engine the rest of the electric (lights, turnsignal, fan, horn etc) is going in another fusebox.
I choosed to put the "computer" inside the car.
Got some z06 engine covers as well.

The car stands without wheels now because i sanded them down and polished and painted them.
The seats are on there way in, mocked them up so i could weld a bracket for them to stand on.
Also started with the rest of the wiring for everything except the engine, i even installed a heater/fan, it´s a must in sweden ;-)
