5351953520535215352253523535245352553526The "KIDS"-4 boys-(they're really all grown) and I decided one day to build a '68 CAMARO. Well, this project has greatly changed(so has Dad's pocket book). We removed the whole front sub frame and replaced it with a 'coil over' & disc brake system(CaChassisworks). However, apparently this didn't satisfy their 'needs' to build just a '68 CAMARO. So another 'family meeting' was necessary(they called it).
The result was the 'BIG' decision to add a 4 link suspension & a 9" rear end(again CaChasssisworks). A 2" x 3" frame was selected, and then 2 of the boys of had done some reading(I knew those subscriptions would pay off someday), and things again got changed. At this point they commited to help with COLD HARD CASH(I'm still waiting). Well a CM(chrome moly 4130)tubing back half now became the priority thing to do. That got done(still waiting for their cash support, holding my breath at times-at least that's what I remind them of every so often).
Well, we're at the next part of this ongoing project to race, drive on the street to local shows, also to terrorize the rice rockets around here. The 12 point CM roll cage is almost done, keeping the stock dash/gauges intact. Then lining up the motor and trans(BBC & Lenco 5 speed) with the rear end will become the next step. THIS IS DEFINITELY FUN or I wouldn't do it. It's very fulfilling to do this project with the boys(even with all the 'gun fights' and their 'way out & costly ideas').
I've included some pictures and will add more as the CAMARO gets closer to being a reality. If anyone wants any more info, please email me at: ' [email protected] '
Tried to add pics, I hope I'll figure it out soon--it's probably real simple and that's why I missed it. Also if I can help anyone with the info/pics so far on this project just email me or call 626-301-0102, that's "SUNNY" So.Calif.(near Los Angeles, in Monrovia).
