My wife and I are expecting our first on the 26th of this month. I have been wanting to do a car room for him. My architect/designer wife stated that he will not have a car themed room, but that I could add a few pictures....well I think it is a car room now! I have been bringing some stuff from the garage and found a few things at hobby lobby. The pictures are of my friends 55 convertible and my fathers 47-54 chevy project trucks that we took this pat weekend. I built the shelfs in the closet a few weeks ago. I think we are as ready as we can be! Hope he likes cars!

Cool! A couple of years ago, I remodeled my then 11 year old son's room to a mostly car theme...it has several pictures, diecast cars, etc., but the paint scheme is what I am proudest of. Red walls, with a black "headboard" painted on the wall behind the bed...in the shape of '70-'72 Chevelle SS hood stripes!

Andrew, I love it.
My first born I did a football-themed bedroom for him and I kept a football in his crib.
He's 12 now and a starting Center for our local Youth Football Team, the Anchor Bay Buccaneers.
So it works. Better start looking for that classic car now while they're still affordable. LOL.

You did well....love the car stuff.

Thanks Guys! I had a good time working on it.
Tony,
I can only imagine what he will want to work on. We have the 56 chevy 2 door that I found on my parents farm in November, 2-67-72 C10s, 4-47-54 chevy trucks, 63 lincoln with suicide doors for projects. I think the C10 would be a great project. Just as long as he doesn't go the fast and furious route....I don't want to help him install a weed eater pipe and neons in a honda.

Room looks great. Congrats on the future little one. I am sitting here watching my 12 week old boy play. We have the same swing and he loves it.

Congratulations to you & your wife, and an awesome interior decorating skill for your newborn!
When he's old enough to move out, replace the crib with a desk, and that would also make a nice home office for you to escape to!
Oh, what I would have given to have a retractable service light above my crib... LOL
I've had to wait all these years, to finally have a '70 GSX (model/toy/picture/poster/magazine article/service manuals/technical resources/spare parts/etc.) in every room of my house, and all of my garages!
My kids have their own themed rooms (superheroes/etc.), but are very much aware of Dad's "car hobby", that they will one day inherit!
No, really, I mean they will only inherit my cars for ONE DAY, for a Special Occasion that they choose (Prom/Wedding/etc.), then I'll have to sell the cars to pay for their College & my Retirement! LMAO

That's awsome... and so much fun! My boys room has a shelf of a few stock cars and F1 cars along with a Indy grand prix poster amungst other things. I have an old ceramic mobil one gargoyle sign I should hang up in there too.
So Andrew, now that your room is finished your going to have to start building one of these!... this is what happens when nobody makes a cool stroller

I honestly would rather have a car themed nursery, cause everyone is betting now my son will become a Raiders fan haha!

Congrats!!
You should frame a new HOTROD(or similar) mag for the month that he is born and let him hang onto it to check out later on down the road. I did that for a nephew recently.

That's awesome...Our first born is due in May...found out a couple weeks ago it's a boy! I'm doing the same thing right now.....I just hope he doesn't get saturated with cars and grows up to hate them...lol.

Funny you mention the wagon! And by the way that wagon is awesome!
I have an old red wagon, new chrome mini headlights, tires and wheels, mini Oklahoma license plate and a vintage cooler. I am going to build him a hot rod wagon. The plans are to extend a frame and make the vintage metal cooler to look like a motor and build a grill for the front. Also a small windshield will be added and I am going to get the wife to sew his interior up.
