My younger brother has always told me that he knew of a 1970 Chevelle sitting in his friends yard. I tried to talk to his buddies mom (who owned the car), But she says she didn't want to sell. That was 12 years ago. My brother, every couple years, checked in with her and she finally caved last week. Price $1000.
Car was last tagged in 1993. Sat 19 years next to a swamp. It sank into the ground up to the rockers. Floor pans are filled with water and ferns are growing from the carpet. NO RUST!!!! Well, no bad rust, just surface rust. She also said it ran fine when it was parked. 350/350 with A/C .

Nice score, but I wouldn't bet the farm against finding a little more rust than you thought. All in all, it looks like a pretty sweet deal for what you paid. Looks like your persistence paid off!

good score....it amazes me how people will let a car sit and rust into the ground and not sell it.....theres a guy 2 miles from me who has had a 67 GTO in
his driveway since the late 70s, wont sell, he piles snow on it in the winter....my buddy went up and checked it out close a couple of yrs back and said the A pillars are rusted off at the base and the windshield is holding the roof up.....what an a-hole

Dont really know what to do with it yet, but the interior is shot, literally nothing salvageable. Still no real rust problems found though. Front fender has some body filler, so I will be replacing that. At some point someone installed a unpainted cowl hood that crumbled when we pressure washed it. I will keep you posted as I figure out what to do with it. THANKS

Nice score! It's funny to see you using a shovel to clean out the interior. I bet it smells just like a new car!

Cool score!
Wish that was the sort of thing lying around in this part of the world...move it to the project section and show us some updates!

Flat out awesome! Congratulations! You bought it right so you can dump some $$$ into making it a fun pro-touring car right?
There is a guy down the road from us that has a 55 Chevy truck and a 74ish C10 short bed that he won't sell, but they just sit there and rot. ARGH!

There are time I wish I could find a car like this, but then after dealing with my supposedly "rust free" current project - I quickly rethink that dream.

I'd buy that for a grand, no problem. The possiblities with that thing. Awesome.

Wow that is way to cool! Its cool to actually hear about one of those swamp find cars actually being bought, and its amazing at how well it is considering all that water.
