I have a deal going on with my 72 camaro for a 63 vette.
there is no way its staying stock. I do not want to buy a expencive aftermarket frame but want to drop in a ls /6 speed update the suspension .convert it from drumb brakes to a large disc. rac and pinion..etc..
whats the largest wheels that will fit? I heard offset trailing arms will give some extra room.
how about a motor swap kit ,like headers(swaping to side exhaust) mounts and anything else I need.
The vette web sights and clubs are almost useless ,they keep them stock and looking the same..I drove it and it doesnt stop, wanders everwhere, handles like a 4x4 and is just sloppy and hard to drive..I want to get in and enjoy driving cross country and doing some auto x and track days...and laughing at a vette guy who says I ruined it!
Any picts or info on what to do and what parts to buy?

Hey there- I am just finishing up my 63 Vette, but I went with a Newman Car creations frame and C4 suspension. I used S&P headers for my LS swap. VP&P brakes make conversion kits. I also bought new rear qtrs to allow a wider tire (275 on the rears). As far as the trans, if you use a 6 speed, you may have to modify the trans tunnel. If you buy a TKO600 perfect fit, it will fit (tight), but no cutting. I have quite a few pics in this thread...

I would price out all of the listed modifications to the original frame and compare it to the cost of the aftermarket options. Don't forget the $4000+ you can get for the orignal chassis. You might be surprised how close the price is. The aftermarket frames will eliminate alot of the original chassis' issues like the brakes and rear hub assemblies.
I have a Car Creations chassis set up for an LSx/T56 available, email me if you're interested.

that 63 is exactly what I have been dreaming of.nice work very tasteful too.
I want to do pretty much the same if I get the 63 ,its going to replace my factory 5 cobra and I want it to act the same.I can get in my cobra drive anywher ,get 20-30 mpg, run 11s and autox it. the only problem is Im a chevy guy so it needs to go.
If I sell one and trade the other I will go with the aftermarket frame. I was hopeing to trade for something already modified.
I just finished a flaired 67 hardtop and fell in love with the car,so I need one.

I went to go trade my cobra 427 replica for the 63 vette today ,it needs a frame bad,the paint /body were not as good as the pictures wich is ok because I want to go with a wide body and 67 hood anyway..and Im a bodyman.
the thing drove like a truck,4 wheel drumbs,no power brakes or steering, skiny tires and a huge steering wheel . the built small block was ok but was not a highway car with a 4 speed and 4:11 gears.
after flying to the guys house in my cobra with a efi mod motor ,5 speed big 4 wheel disc, tube suspension, huge sticky tires my cobra felt like the ultimate car compared to the vette. so I have to wonder and figure out how much time and $$$ its going to take to make it as good as the cobra and if its worth it.
