I am looking to replace the stock suspension with an aftermarket set up. I am going to work on the front end first. I would like to stay away from cutting the frame or heavy welding if possible. I have been looking at the classic performance products mini subframe kits with tubular upper and lowers which allow you to remove the strut rods. Has anyone used these kits? How do they perform? How difficult are they to install?

I have never driven one. I called them and asked them once if they changed the geometry any and they couldn't answer the question. The only benefit I can presume is a sturdier lower control arm than stock but not as ridgid as a solid mounted strut rod.

I would look at Maier Racing for that car:

Mike Maier has a 66 mustang that is lightning fast, and he won the Goodguys Columbus Vendor shootout, besting some very seasoned cars and drivers, and had a very good placing at the Optima Challenge.

+1 for Maier Racing. Another good company to work with is Street or Track LLC.

Maier Racing is the way to go. Call Mike and he can set up with a great setup that won't break the bank. Proven parts and results.
