Sorry to do this to you guys but I am excited about this one. It's gonna be BAAAAD! More to come in the near future.
All I can tell you right now is that the 1969 Camaro Street Fighter will be black, will have a couple different body parts and will be powered by a very nasty big block engine. The pic is of a mock up I started to put together. I thought I'd post this pic to see if the '69 Camaro guys approve! This second release in the Street Fighter Series will be available for release sometime this year. Stay tuned.

Looks good so far. Just not a big fan of the side exhaust.

Looking good. agreed with scott on the side exaust. it should be moved back tward the quarter panel, or to the underside of the car.
or through the rocker!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm doing as much as I can with this second one to make it as different from the first one as possible without spending a wad of cash. We have a ton of other parts already tooled for these Camaros that I can use. One thing I am going to try and get a good quote on is adding a rear exiting exhaust. The reason the exhaust exits where it does is because these T/A Camaros have very low profile floor pans and the area where the seats are, there's an outward protrusion below the car that makes it impossible to move the side exhaust further rearward. I would have done that if I had the space. I'm at the very beginning stages for this '69 version so we have some time to play around with it so keep the suggestions coming, I like to hear from the collectors and enthusiasts.
As far as the wheels go we will reuse the same wheels BUT, so they are atleast a little different I talked with Scott Sandoval at Billet Specialties about the wheels and what he suggested was that we could smooth the texture off of the spokes which would make it just like another wheel in the line formerly called "BLADE". So then it has a modern Torque Thrust appearance. Heck I can make these cars insane if I had an unlimited budget but I don't so I try to be creative and improvise as much as I have to. We are going to make this an ongoing series and there will probably be another Camaro after the 69 and if so it will definitely have some new tooling on it even if it's all new wheels.
So keep the suggestions coming!

Will there be any option for them in another colour besides black? Hugger Orange or Red with black Z/28 stripes would be nice. Will it have the standard '69 grille or the RS grille?

no 72 chevelles yet? Lots of Die-casts of 70's, but no 71-72's. not even the 70 die casts look decent though. some GMP Pro-touring chevelle die casts would be SWEET!

You can always look forward to a post from me dumping my 30 tons of ideas your way. I think the baddest of ass (badassest?) things to do would be to make it an RS at least. I'm hoping that makes it to the next 68 as well, but all these guys *StreetKingSteve1969LS1,etc.* are forcing me to really like the 69 with RS grill treatment. Would GMP at least spring for that? If you stick with BilletSpecialties for the wheels the Santa Fe's or Outlaws would look good on a 69, maybe even an SLG02. You're going to have a big block in this next one, maybe even throw on some forced induction...perhaps a future feature. On the Santa Fe/Outlaw idea, I agree it would be a must to have them dark on the centers. Think PHR Battle Axe. As a matter of fact, DO PHR Battle Axe hahaha. I've still got more ideas though. :naughty:

how about an optional rs grill? Or sold seperately? Come to think of it the more parts available seperately the better! Or a kit with different hoods and rims and decals! Why this is so important to me, I dont know.

07-07-2005, 08:53 PM
Thanks for all the feedback. I will do what I can but It will probably be a standard front grill. I tried to do the dark wheel centers but Billet Specialties doesn't want to misrepresent their product and I agree with them so I have to keep it shiny polished billet looking. I promise you when you see this creation when it's done it'll be a must have. We will do more of these cars in different colors and options. If I try to do a ton of new parts I'll probably get shot down. But I'll do all I can. As far as the GMP custom parts glad you guys like that idea because it looks like we're already heading that way. Our custom wheel and tires sets are gonna be very popular and the first line of figurines we produced sold ver well for us.

John, John, John. What are you doing to me :)
I like centered, rear exhaust through the tailpan. Optional hoods and spoilers.
How about a convertible some time :).
JohnnyGMachine
07-08-2005, 05:48 AM
Rick my man, what are you doing to ME??!!!! LOL! A convertible?! AAAHHH! I'm guessing a convertible is out of the question, we don't have any tooling for that but I think it would be cool to see somebody build a widebody PT Camaro convertible with the fenders flared like a T/A car...hey now, who's game?

Man, you guys do a wicked '69 and I'm going to have to pony up with the cash. I almost did for the '68 but the cost was a little high for it, since I am much more into '69's. Maybe you'll have it out by Christmas. I can tell my wife what I want as a gift. LOL

So far the projected FOB date (when it leaves Hong Kong) is October 1 2005 which means it arrives here in a warehouse in November. I don' think there'll be an issues with having them before christmas at all. We'll probably take pre-orders befor October even starts so it won't be long!
I'm specifying a rear exit exhaust and all the decoration today. Just image The 1969 Sunoco Camaro ALL BLACK with a slightly taller cowl hood and a big block under the hood and a stick shift all rolling on 18" wheels and tires. One thing I also noticed about our '69 Camaro tooling is that for some reason it has the appearance of sitting a tad bit lower than 1968 Camaro! It looks awesome mocked up.

Guess I have to buy 2! John, except for flares, that's my plan. Sort of a cross between Steve's Street Fighter and Donahue's 69 vert Trans-Am!
:attn: How did I miss this thread?!?:hmm: Y'all wait till I'm out of town to start making these important decisions?!?
John, you gotta push for an RS package! Whether standard or an option. EVERYONE knows the 69 RS Camaro is, bar none, THE best looking body style EVER for ANY automobile. Period. And I'm NOT biased.:squint:
Seriously, it would add an extra "sinister" look. Pure evil.
It is looking good so far though, keep up the good work!:icon996:

Unfortunately I think as much as we grovel, it won't happen on this round. I am curious to see the changes from race car to the street car though.
Grovel? Grovel? :hmm: Why would we grovel? Just because John is a great diecast designer and knows how to make this car look it's best?(rs) And did I mention that John is a handsome man?!?

You guys are kidding me correct?
I was reading these post and figured that is a quick time line to get a car done. As I read on, da, I come to the conclusion you are talking about cast metal cars. LOL
I guess a purist I'm not. I thought you guys were all off your rocker.
Too much time on your hands. etc. Heck, I even teased Steve from PHR in a thread a few weeks back about his stuff.
I guess I have to remember how many Camaro guys there are on this forum. Too much love for a car I guess is a good thing. In the mean time I will have to be put in the official poser category with Bill Howell. LOL
PS: I don't know who the manufacture is, but a duplicate of MY CAR was made back in the mid 90's. I hung around with a guy as an 18 year old (1976) with a Yenko like 69 GTO Ram Air V. Long story, car dealer modified vehicle, etc. I'm still friends with him and his family today.
He calls me up from his business, which sells model die cast cars in a metro detroit retail store. You're not going to believe this, they made duplicate die cast of our two cars. He noted mine was the first 69 GTO Judge which had a set of Gragar 5 spoke rims on it, which I had back on it in the day. Correct color, black exterior, red interior. Ram Air engine components, four speed. Everything.
So where does it sit now? I don't no. Some wear in a cardboard box in storage downstairs. LOL

I was kidding about the grovelling. (RS) But maybe you have a (RS) good point about John (RS) being a good looking, well talented (RS), artist. I hadn't realized all that before.
...and yeah Roger, we Are talking about diecasts. It's a sub-hobby of mine and a few others. A hobby that sometimes competes with me finishing my full size projects.

Blitz , I called John with some questions on another topic and hes as nice as can be, dont be afraid to call him.
I think he really has a handle on what makes their diecasts different, the quality and
the subject matter.
I know what I want for christmas
Also , dont rule out customizing and parts swapping with the diecast cars. You can build your own car if you buy one good kit for the body and then another for the rims , etc.

Yeah, I've given "kitbashing" plenty of thought. If maybe a cheap Ertl RS Camaro could be sourced, there would be your donor grill. I'm currently dead in the water on a 65 Chevelle project as of right now.
Bump for more teaser pics! :icon996:
There aren't that many RS diecast out there that I've found. Another reason to have this be an RS!
