Friends,

As elsewhere chronicled, I was a Bullmastiff parent, and will be again soon. There is a huge group of dogs that was just rescued from a horrifically neglectful situation in Nevada. Most of the dogs are currently in Phoenix and some have yet to be rescued from NV. The costs of this have outstripped the American Bullmastiff Associations resources. Please give the link below a read and if you can help please do.

My girl, Roxy was adopted from ABARS. She was given a second shot at life via rescue. Please give these dogs a similar chance. We will be adopting one or two of these dogs, but there are far more that need immediate care.

Thanks,
True, Kathy and Roxy (RIP)

Thank you guys, really. You should get a reply email from a couple of ABARS reps.

If you know of anyone else who might be of a mind to donate, please feel free to send them the link or post it to your facebook.

I gave what I could. Very easy to do with Pay Pal. I was remembering when I asked for help, on here, with rescuing Charlie and Bandit (my two dogs from Iraq). There was plenty of support and I hope you get all that you need and every one of these beautiful beasts are delivered into loving hands.

Thank you Johnny.

And thanks to anyone else who has contributed or aided in spreading the word. We raised over $1k yesterday alone which is fantastic. Despite the stated goal on the Chip-In bug being $10k, the costs of taking care of these dogs is likely to run close to $20k if not more.

If you are reading this, and can help please do. If you can't offer money (and I fully understand if you can't) please help by spreading the word via your personal networks, on facebook or on other social networks.

Steve & Bryce,

Thanks guys. Appreciate the donation and promotion.

Bryce,
Are you interested in adoption at all? The dogs are rebounding quickly and some will be moving from the kennel to foster homes in CA, OR and WA. Snort and possibly Ava are going to come live with us.

Thank you very much for your contribution.

Thank you very much Nick.

If any of you are interested in adopting one of these dogs the first step for you will be to go to the American Bullmastiff association website HERE (http://www.bullmastiff.us/rescue/) and fill out their adoption application form. It's HUGE. Then get that sent in to the National co-ordinator with the Subject line: NEVADA/PHOENIX RESCUES.

I would love too, but at this time my 3 month old daughter takes all my free time and would be unfair to bring another dog into the mix. I have adopted my last two dogs. Its the only way to do it!

Johnny - good to hear the "War" dogs are doing well. I got a lot of my animal and military supporters to donate and it's great to hear they are doing well.

Thanks for doing this and congrats on your adoption. Susan and I are part of a small dog rescue. The foster dogs we get are pulled from medical wards and it's not uncommon for us to have 2 or 3 recovering at our place at all times. It's also in part why we are moving this weekend to a house that has a nice size back yard. It's very rewarding and over the years we wound up keeping two ourselves. While it's not a lot we made a donation this evening and as we know everything helps.

Thanks for what you do and once again congratulations. It's funny that you adopted Snort. That was one that tugged at Susan's heart.

Thanks Larry.

Our new boy Guinness.

He's one of the 27 neglected Bullmastiffs mentioned above.

Formerly named "Snort". He is the 2nd generation of dog that had never left the property they were on.
Never out of a kennel.
Never in a yard.
Never in a house.
Never on a leash.
Never vaccinated...which caused him to get parvo immediately upon receiving the vaccine (recovered now). He was fed once every other day which is why at nearly 2yrs old he weighs 70lbs. He should be 130+. He's like the mini-me of Bullmastiffs.

He's terrified of everything.
Scared of being in the house.
Scared of being in the yard.
Scared of the car.
Scared of going through doorways. The only thing he isn't freaked out by is other dogs...the only thing he knows is other dogs.

All that said, he is really sweet and in the brief glimpses of "non-terror" we've had thus far he has us convinced that with enough patience and care he will be a good dog.

I do want to mention again that the dogs will be moving to foster homes all across the country. There just aren't enough fosters in the SW for all of them. As mentioned on the blog, there are already quite a few that have been moved to the PNW. Next week a few will be headed to the Gulf States area, and as I recall there is another group that will be headed to the Mid-Atlantic/Virgina area.

If you've any inkling toward adoption, don't let the fact that the dogs are in Phoenix keep you from looking into it. Dawn is totally open to change the plan for which dogs go where so that one you might be interested in can be fostered near you.

Again, the transport costs and continuing medical treatments are substantial. Thanks a ton to those who have donated, and if anyone else can help, there's a wrinkle faced pooch that'll really appreciate it.

They are. But treating 27 seriously neglected dogs is EXTREMELY expensive even at cost.

Somebody needs to lock the breeder / horder in a room full of poo for a very long time! How somebody does this to animals is beyond me.

God bless all who take on such burdens.

In December of 2011 I made a public plea for assistance in the rescue effort of 27 Bullmastiffs that were in a horrible situation in Las Vegas, NV. I know a few of you made donations to the effort. For that, you have my most sincere gratitude. I wanted to share with you the blog post linked below with an announcement and update on the dogs YOU helped save.

Thank you.
