I have a buddy who has a buddy that told him that the state of California is working on plans on adding a character to license plates, which will generate income for the state. Not sure if this its just a rumor, but I really like the idea. Besides the obvious that you can get some cool personalized license plates, I think it makes sense for all states to do this. Has anyone else heard this? Any one have a source that can verify this?

I already have a few ideas for a new plate for all my rides. Just to be ready when the day comes... I imagine that it has to happen some day, 7 character's can't last forever.

I like the idea of more characters on license plates for personal plates but the more that the other 49 States do differently than Cali the better. Personalized plates is a benign thing but CA rarely does anything right (not talking # of characters on license plates) concerning management of anything. Californians, especially Sacramento, need to try and not think about what other States should and shouldn't do. The weather is about the only thing that isn't messed up here.
