View Full Version : Stocker Rallys in 17"
Looking into putting on a set of chromed Rally's 17X8 and 18X9.5 on my 69 camaro. Anyone seen this before? Does it look good?
I am having a hard time trying to imagine the look of this in my head. I think it will look good but I want other opinions.
Anyone seen any or have pics?

The steel 17" rally wheels weigh about a million pounds each. They formed special 17" wheel rims that meet up with 15" centers. As an added detriment, this approach limits the size of brakes that will clear the wheels. The combined flywheel effect of the heavy wheels and small brakes relut in a car that does not want to stop. Now add the weight of chrome plating.
What I'm trying to say is: Don't do it. Start with the aluminum rally wheel which, aside from being aluminum, has a larger diameter center (less rim)and polish or chrome that.

If you do a search their are some pictures of camaros with 17" rallys. They look very nice. The aluminum rallys just don't look as nice in my opinion. You've gotta be right about the weight though.

I have Steevo's old 17" Rallys on my car right now. I'm just using them to roll the car around. The wheels/tire combo is extremely heavy. They'd be very detrimental for a pro-touring type car. Not to mention you can't run big brakes.
