I hope this is the right place to post this topic. I was looking on the forum and didnt find anything so im posting. Is there anyone interested in having a cruise sometime after the holidays? Im in northern California and think that a meet and greet/ cruise could be pretty cool thats if the weather is ok. There are a lot of areas in the bay area we could meet up at then roll out to some nice roads. Im thinking the pleasanton/dublin/san ramon/walnut creek areas to just name a few (im open for anything). If anyone is up for it we could set a date.. Feel free to PM me about this and if people are down just post up a good place and if we get enough feedback then we can make it official.. Thanks for looking hope to make it happen..

I don't know how long you wanted to wait or if you would be interested but on May 6th, 2012. I will be having the the First Annual Poker Run and Custom Car show for my non-profit organization In Memory of the Fallen. Which honors our fallen Fire Fighters and Law Enforcement Officers. There will be four stops on the poker run in the Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore area. The final stop will be in Tracy at Dominator Street Rods which is who is building my 1967 Chevelle Police Tribute Car "Watch Commander". Dominator will have the doors open so everyone can check out there custom work as well as the progress on the "Watch Commander." There will also be a large raffle, silent auction as well as music, food and some things for the kids to do. I will post further details in mid January. Should be a pretty good time and raise money for a great cause.

Garickman thanks for the response. I cant wait to check that one out man. I will be there no doubt. I would also like to get together to meet people and just hang out. I have been without a 69 Camaro for a few years and finally got another one. While i owned my last one i built it in high school and it was my daily driver. i didnt have time to meet people and really enjoy it as a hobby on my off time. so now i want to get something together in the next month or so. I am also setting up a car show next year for me PD as a fundraiser for our association and to donate proceeds as well so the "Watch Commander" would be awesome to have out there if they are interested since it is a law enforcement tribute car. Anyways.. sorry i go off topic a lot but lets see how many people want to get out this winter for a Northern Ca. Cold Winter nights...

Mike that makes 2 of us then. Im in the east bay myself. once we gather more interested folks then we can decide on a central location for everyone. I think we could also make a pass through Tilden and Briones since they are windy and theres scenery along the way..

Well Saturday's seem like good days to me there's January 14 or 21st. Just a thought. I'm free Sunday's as well after the new year. Since there's an interest we can try and determine a date then a location. Feel free to throw out ideas of meeting spots near some nice roads. I am familiar with most of the bay area and can do any location. Also if anyone has a shop to meet at that's also an option. I can't remember who it is but I know there's a member on here with a shop in Pleasanton which could be fun since there's many roads to choose from. Also if we do it at a shop I'm up to BBQ if someone has a truck to bring a BBQ.

My interior won't be done, but i will need to get some miles on the new parts..

As well as make new friends...

Ok this is in NO WAY official but I have a date of Jan 21 2012.. This is a saturday and gives everyone who is interested some time to kick back after the holidays settle and get our rides together. I am not sure where we should meet at. I think Heather Farms park in Walnut Creek is a nice big open central location to meet up. This allows for us to hang out and talk cars without being in a crowded mall parking lot. We could then take 680 or Danville Blvd toward Dublin. From there we have even more options of places to cruise or call it quits.. If anyone is familiar with the area or have any other suggestions or routes chime in. I have never set anything like this up but I am down. If you have done anything similar out this way and it was a success let me know. Thanks for looking and hope it works out and hope the weather is decent.

Option 2 is meet in a parking lot in a central location and just kick back.

Count me in doubt the car will be drivable but have plenty of family members with cars that would go also! I kno out in Livermore area we have tesla road and could also head out to niles canyon I believe they have a big rest area out there also and a park I believe.

The Livermore area is nice. Since you know the area maybe you can set the routes out there since im not too familiar with it. I was thinking we could gather as many people out in Walnut Creek or somewhere close then we can meet at a park or food joint out your way then get going. Hope the weather is nice.

Count me in! I'm going to agree with my brother (lt1chevelle) niles canyon is a cool road to take a Cruz on. I'll try an see what other options there as well. What does everyone think about making it a Sunday meet? Saturdays I always seem to have to work. Could probably work some magic an get it off tho. Just throwing it out there

One owns a 69 Camaro as well and another has i believe a 78 TA. Anyways I am still open to ideas as far as the routes and stops. PM me if you have any questions and I can give you my phone number. I may be ready enough in a few weeks... Just gotta put in the new rear end ...

The interior is an on going process, but no biggy...

Otherwise, i test drove it today....Just mean and wicked with a modern touch.... i am speechless..

The sum of all the parts I added is just crazy.. I sure do want to go on a cruise soon..

When I had my Porsche I would meet with a crew to cruise Hwy 35 / Skyline area in Woodside near Alice's Restaurant. It's pretty killer and a popular cruise and meet spot for exotics, bikes, etc... I would definitely be interested in that. Some great windy roads over there.

Im interested also, I'm in Livermore aswell. I never got around to pulling my Chevelle apart for the winter so she is still running and ready pending weather or restricting reasons. For most of us I think the itch to take the cars out is due to the for the most part a dry winter so far.

Thanks. I'm sure it's an idea we all have pretty often I just want to meet people since im
new to pro touring and am accumulating my Hotchkis parts one part a month. But as far as the location, I'm open to the suggestions. I just figured I would Throw out the idea and the. We see what city everyone wants to do. The more windy and long roads I feel the better. My car is fairly stock right now but it's comfortable and fun for long rides. Can't wait to do this. Sunday's seem better because most people are off Sunday's plus it may be easier to make it happen since people can bring their wives/fiancès/ girlfriends whatever it may be.

Oh I forgot to mention, Stinson Beach ride would be the bad ass. Sounds like my first choice. Think that the pictures would very nice and there are cool places to eat. We could meet out past San Quintin. There are some spots just next to the water in Larkspur.

solarguy09
12-30-2011, 10:48 AM
Haha.. my Wife won't get near my Beast..

I will have to come Solo, or with a Friend.

Depending on the Time of year , Stinson Beach run can be congested.

But you are right about the ride to stinson. My Car back in the 1980 and 1990's, tore through Muir Woods and HWY 1..I will never forget those rides. Holding my Breath in the turns, and sucking in air on the short straights before the next turn...M-21 Close ratio got the beating of it's life..Could not believe how great our Cars handle that run..And now i have all new stuff...Oh My...

But on this Cruise we are talking about, I am a newbie, and I am much older now, so I will be laying back and Cruising... i will save the Racing now days for the track...But i am open to where ever you guys decide...

At this point, I am still clear on Saturday the 21st and would enjoy a cruise and meeting up with everyone. I like motorcycles too, but have seen them pass on lots of blind curves, might be something to think about.

OK sounds like the 21st which was the first option is going to be best for most people. Mr. Angry mentioned the Stinson Beach route which is a beautiful ride. Head count time is next. As soon as you all determine your schedules, let me know and post if you are in and if the 21st works. If you are in and the 22nd or both days work let me know as well so we will have a number. if you have not been to Stinson Beach then dont worry, for it is going to be fun. Hope to see as a bunch of you since I havnt met anyone on here before. If you have friends that are not Pro-Touring member let them know about this get together.

I have a feeling this will be a shakedown run for quite a few people, but who cares? The goal is to get the cars out on the streets. I was just down at Half Moon Bay this weekend, that's another great place to run to - not too far. Santa Cruz would work too... I'm big on mileage so the farther ya'll want to go the better.

Hell, I'd run down to L.A., at 8-10 mpg though I just have to stop a lot... 8^)

how long of a drive u guys lookin to do? here is a map starting from my house just to give u a ideal of how far it is. keep in mind its a nice windy road and at the junction there is a nice place to eat at the junction where a lot of ppl stop. also off of mines there are a ton of wineries if you guys like wine. here is a rout keep in mind there are no gas stations on the rout the nearest one is about 5miles from tesla rd. here is the web site to the bar and grill http://thejunctionbarandgrill.com/
some reason it will to past the map but if u go to google maps and type in tesla rd. for A and 47300 Mines Road. for B you will see the rout. also it about a 50mile run. just something to think about

I could make the 22nd. 21st is already booked with a cruise to wine country with my wife's Tbird club.
Livermore is a good run if you want to see a couple of wineries. Check the road from 580 to Sunol and Elliston winery and the Sunol train station. Or there's Lake Chabot for picnicing. If you're just looking for meet up locations the Blackhawk Museum on Crow Canyon is very accomodating. Or there's Kassabian's in Dublin. They're always happy when clubs show up.
Marin Co. has some awesome cruising roads. Check out the road from 101/Lucas Vly Rd out to Rancho Nicasio and then up to the Marin Cheese factory on out to the coast near Pt. Reyes and Stinson.

Mines in Livermore is nice, but narrow and NO support if theres a mechancial, I cycle it two to three times a week and the weekends have alot of clubs cruise it, I get to see alot of 4 and 2 wheel eye candy...good road, just narrow and nothing on it for 32 miles...ooh I am hoping too be done in time, I got the itch....

So are we thinking the 21st or 22nd as the definitive date? Let's nail it down along with a list of who's going. The route part is easy.

So who's in?

OK i checked the numbers and looks like we have 3 for the 22nd, 1 for the 21st and 3 for either day including myself. I am thinking the 22nd may work best hoping the rain doesnt continue. I have been tied up all week and havnt checked in lately.
Heres the tally.

1. Mr. Angry either day.
2. BCHALK22 either day.
3. Jet5150 21st.
4. Firebob 22nd.
5 LT1chevelle 22nd.
6. Sick63Nova 22nd.
7 Possibly 2 more from Sick63Nova 22nd.

Sounds like we have 6-7 people for sure on the 22nd. I am also up for the 22nd. If so I am thinking we can take HWY 1 to Stinson Beach. I checked it out and found there is a Starbucks at 247 Shoreline Highway, Mill Valley, 94941 which is a good meeting place. Plug that into your GPS or phone and we will meet up. I am up for an early meet up around 9:30-10. If that is too early let me know. PM me with any questions.

Sounds good. If the weather is still bad I'm out though. Anybody want to cruise over from the east bay side? I'm up by 880 by the Hilltop Mall. I'll see if I can round up a couple more players. May not be PT cars but I know alot of hotrodders that might be interested.

I am not going to make this cruise, but I am keeping an eye out for the next one..

Between the weather, not having my car in my hands yet, I will have to miss this one....

Still early in 2012, I will meet some of you guys soon enough..

My car was bought to be driven but I know some guys dont want to do the rain which is understandable. My ride isnt very pretty so im not worried. I planned this knowing rain was an option so we can play it by ear.

Sounds good...

Testing for me turned up an Oil Pan leak that needs to be fixed. So I am going to upgrade the Water pump and Timing chain while I am at it.

I will have the bugs worked out by the time we do finally cruise..

A run at the Airport ???

Excuse the stupidity of the 52 year old newbie, but I have been out of the loop for more than a decade.. Life kinda got in the way.

I am just getting the free time I need , and the money to work on my car, and although a cruise is cool, a cruise to the Airport where we autocross the crap out of our cars and then cruise home is number one for me..

I don't see me hitting the bigger road courses until 2013, but autocross,oh yea..

nova,
I thought that might've been your car. I think you had your son with you the day I was there. I remember you had a pretty fast setup. I was having a tough time on the configuation they had and by the last run I gave up and pretty much ended up drifting much of the course. No way I could compete with those z cars most of those guys run on a go kart track like they had set up that day. These days if I really want to test something out I go with the SCCA guys here at Golden Gate Fields or Oakland. At least they will set something up for cars with a bit more power.

solarguy,
Empire Sports Car Club in Santa Rosa puts on an autoX about once a month when things dry out. You can google it. SCCA puts on some solo events closer by(to the east bay anyway). It'll usually run you about $45-$50 to run if you're not a member. You can google SCCA SF Chapter to get their schedule. There is also a group that runs out at the fairgrounds in Stockton now and then. AutoX is cool for trying out something new or testing but there's nothing like getting out somewhere you can hang it all out till you find the weakest link.

Well I was at Treasure Island today for some dog training and saw Camaro5 all set up out there for a meet up. Then I thought about the meet we were supposed to have. That was one of the few days it has rained this year. Does anyone want to give this another try. I am down to cruise on a Sunday in the next couple weeks. Anyone want to roll to Stinson still. Feel free to throw out any ideas or dates.

Well, since it seems that we are not going to have a winter here, and with some advance notice, I'm in. I've been slacking on the paintwork, but the 5 speed is in now and would love a nice shakedown cruise somewhere.

Hwy 35 / Skyline is definitely doable. Nice curvy cruise with great views.

Anyone still want to do this?

Ok, you guys time to put or... It aint much of a cruise but it would be a good place to get together.

NASA has the track this weekend at Infineon. I would be a fun place to cruise up to and hang for a couple of hours. I'm already booked for Saturday but I can make Sunday. At least it's a chance to get the car out of the garage and go do some car thing. I think they charge $10 admission to get into the track unless you're going to one of the shops up on the hill. We could pick an area of the paddock to park in so we all can gather. I'd be into meeting up somewhere for the drive out to Sears Point if anyone was coming from the east bay.

Had a busy weekend. Got off half day on Friday so I grabbed a couple of beers and headed for the Division7 drags at Sears Point. Free parking and $5 admission. Heck they were practically paying me to go. Top Fuel Alcohol action at 200MPH. Ya gotta love that. Chilled around la casa Sat because we had an afternoon Bday party. Today we headed for Korbel in Santa Rosa in the Tbird.Top laid back and the sunshine shining. Had a fab lunch and a bottle of the bubbly then we headed for the coast. Had to stop and take the dog for a run on the beach and stick our feet in the ocean. Cruised back enjoying the views, picked up some coffee along the way and made our way back to San Rafael and on home. It was a great day. Anytime you guys want to get together and cruise just give me a heads up. We'll be headed for Reno in the Firebird in a couple of weeks. I'm saving up for gas already.

This one is the Streetrod Nats show so I don't believe they will have the autoX.

I did the show and poker run that the Rip City Riders MC club put on last Saturday in Petaluma. What a great event. About 400 cars and, it looked like, a couple of thousand bikes. Great bbq lunch and Tommy Castro an the Painkillers played. I didn't win the poker run. I took my dad with me, he's 83 years old, I thought he was going to get whiplash with all the women walking around. LOL. Did the UA Family Day on Sunday with the Firebird club and the Blue Angels.

Any time someone wants to get together...I'm up for it if I don't already have something planned.
