View Full Version : New Projects
I recently sold my 69 Camaro, and although sad (I owned the car since I was 21), it gives me opportunity to start a couple new projects.
The first is a 67 Mustang Fastback. I plan on making it a near concourse correct Shelby GT500 clone on the exterior and interior. The car is going on the rotisserie in 3 weeks. The plan is to use as many of the factory gauges as possible, if not all. Figuring out the tach, discreetly adding a boost gauge, etc. etc. THe power plant will be a modded 04 Cobra motor (SC 4.6 4V), with the factory Tremec T56 and a 9". We ordered the Martz front subframe already, and I have the shell along with the motor/trans/rear already. I havent decided on the rear suspension yet, or which wheels to run, 17" for sure, preferably 18".
Still a lot of planning ahead, but I prefer to have a stockish appearing car, that has big (600+) reliable HP, and will be respectable at the dragstrip, and for all purpose driving. I want it to handle, but I dont plan on going crazy in the turns.
The second is a cruiser for my family and myself. It is a 59 Impala. No decisions on suspension have been made, but it will be getting a 348" LS1 with a custom fabricated 3 throttle body "tri-power" intake and an overdrive automatic.
Well thats all for now, just getting excited and anxious doing all the planning.....

We need to talk. I want to hear more about your 3x2 intake setup. Is this a concept or something you already have or working on? Sounds like something I need.
Both projects sound like fun. Keep us updated with progress reports.
We are just in the "talking" stages of the intake right now, but it is very important to me that it becomes a reality.

Hey Tom,
I can't wait to see some of your progress on these cars. Based on talking with you and your plans, I know both will be top notch.
P.S. For those that want to see the previous Camaro, here is a link to Tom's '69. Awesome car..

I can't believe you sold your '69!!!! (hehe)
that Mustang sounds awesome, I'd like to build one someday for someone else. I'd get boiled alive if it didn't have an LSX under the hood. haha
I've seen some sweet 59-60 Impalas around Houston.

Man, I loved your blue/white 69. Please post some pix of it in our vbgarage. I'm sure it will inspire lots of folks. If the other two projects come out half as nice they will be :worship: :bananna2:
Good luck with them.
I'm not sure. I dont want something gaudy looking, or "hydraulics" looking. I do like the look of the ones in your link....

Not the best picture, but I will take more once the car is in my hands.

I was just looking online for 59' pics and came across this. The ole TTII's but it looks pretty good. Something 5 spoke like the intros would be close.

Looks good, and I happen to have a line on a set of those......
I loved my 69, had it for 14 years, but I wanted to do other things, and felt it was the time....

i think a set of AR salt flat wheels would look awesome on the 59. about 20 years ago me and my Dad looked at a 59 El Camino that was a factory 348 tri power 4 spd car it was only 650 bucks but the floors were extremely rusty and it only had the center carb with no telling how long the intake had been open to the elements so we passed on it.

Your car was really cool. How much did or are you selling it for?
Is the Ebay auction a scam or legit? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4561100953&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBI%3AIT
Hmmmm, it appears the buyer is now selling it.

grabs popcorn.... Lets see how high it goes for real this time :D
Awesome 69!:seizure: I love the 59 Impala, too. If it turns out as good as the 69, it'll be a great family cruiser! The 67 fastback happens to be my favorite Mustang too. Just put an LSx in it!:lmao:
