I'm looking for a new paint color for my car so I can get the jambs sprayed, hopefully this winter, and I want to go away from metallics etc for ease of future touch ups and such. It's currently painted Indigo Blue Metallic with a whole bunch of extra black. It's a little dark for me, though I like the color.

What are some good options for a medium blue? The car was originally LeMans blue, but a little too light for me and maybe too much green? I saw a blue 2010 Camaro but it was a little dark and it was metallic.

Am I way off base in wanting a non metallic color? Is there something I should know about any advantages to metallic paints? If I ever get this car on the road, I'm going to drive it a lot. Maybe even as my summer daily driver, just because.

Other colors would be on the lighter end, greys, silvers but not white. Something not so common.

Engine bay will be black or a dark grey color, dash will be black with a black interior most likely. No spoiler, only the chrome window trim, nothing around the wheel wells and no emblems. Stock side marker bezels and tail lights and door handles.

If it doesn't have to be a GM color, I've always like Viper GTS Blue. Not sure how much of a metallic it is.

You stated that you wanted a lighter blue than you have currently, if a metallic is undesireable I suggest a darker blue like flag blue or navy blue or similar very dark blue, a lighter blue will look "period correct" on an older car but wont look as good as a metallic imo.

This is the color currently, it's supposed to be Indigo Blue Metallic off of a mid 90's GM truck, but they added 800g of black to the paint because they didn't think it looked right. The color isn't too bad really, but I'd like a non-metallic. Maybe something close, but non metallic.

It was LeMans blue originally, but I don't like that color.

Can't you go to a paint shop and have something custom mixes without the metallic?

I usually go and buy nail polish in the colors I think are fitting for a paint job, swipe it on some nice thick card stock, then have the paint shop match it.

For my current project though I am leaning to the following:

BMW - Laguna Seca Blue

Dodge - Petty Blue

Ford - Ford Blue (2010/11 Mustang)
