Instant hot air for my defroster. I'm thinking from an electric heater coil or something in the a/c box. It'd be great to not have to wait for the engine to warm up to defrost the windshield. I often ahve to jump in my car and leave almost immediately, so it'd be great to skip that.
I'm just sayin, ya know?

Daily driver beater? Try putting this on the bottom of the windshield. :) http://www.frostfighter.com/adobe/2620-25%20Truck%20Front%20Heater3.pdf (http://www.frostfighter.com/prt2600.htm)

I mean something already engineered into my gen 4 magnum. I figure that's got to be how these new cars have practically instant defrost... Seems like it wouldn't be that difficult, just a small electric heating element that's tired to engine temp so it's not running all the time.

My 2010 VW Jetta TDi has an electric heater in the def system. It takes a looong time for a diesel to warm up so they put it in. It won't blast ice off the windshield right away, that takes a good 7min at idle, but it will quickly clear fogging on the inside.

Yeah, that's the kind of thing I'm talking about. I don't get ice (bay area, ca) but often times when I hop into my car to go to a fire, it's all fogged up... time is of the essence, and I won't drive down the road with my windshield foggy, imparing vision.

Block heaters are your friend. Plug it in and have instant heat when you jump in and fire it up.
