Needed some funds to finish buying parts for the El Camino (more suspension goodies, exhaust, trim pieces, etc.) and had been trying to sell my Mustang since July. Finally had someone interested in the car and they picked it up last night. I had found this on craigslist earlier in the week and had to have it. Bought it for half of what I sold the Mustang for, so I'm making a list of parts to order Monday :fingersx:
It's a 2001 Audi A4 Avant 1.8T. I was looking for a truck because I could really use something to haul stuff around in, but I really don't like driving trucks. This will pretty much hold anything I need to lug around (great for swap meets!) and is a lot more fun in the corners. It's been lowered, had a couple minor performance upgrades.

My wife had one for a few years- a 98 Avant with AWD and the 2.8 V6. It was a fine car we really enjoyed. It was getting close to 200K miles and the trans/steering started making funny little noises. Before it got crazy expensive, we traded it in. But it rode nice, ran great, and the AWD was fine in the snow/ice. Good car, and you'll surely enjoy it.

nice, I had a car with the same motor. Decently peppy. Just keep an eye on those ignition coils, 2001 was a bad year for them on the 1.8T motors.

New wheels definitely a major improvement.
17" ESM 004's. I've been eyeballing those for my Volvo. They look great on your Audi. I know your "...supposed to leave this alone...", but I've always loved the B5 RS4. Sorry to tempt, but It's always easier to spend someone Else's money Aye.
Id personally do all factory RS4 styling except for the ohh-so-bad-ass lltek/Reiger rear bumper, VIS Hood, Ebay LED taillights, and possibly the lltek grill. I'd skip the spendy spoiler unless found in a junkyard. Bout to windo-shop the hell out of your car :)
For a Factory RS4 look:
E-Bay RS4 Repro Grill:$50.00
E-Bay RS4 Rear emblem and front clip on grill emblem (http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUDI-RS4-front-rear-emblem-badge-NEW-/390261043077?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item5add5eef85) (OEM..can't find the front anywhere else but this auction, 4 of 5 sold!): $85.00
Vis (http://www.visracing.com/newcatalog/Audi/A4/1996-2001-A4/Body-Kit-195/Front-Bumper-199)/Extreme Dimensions (http://www.extremedimensions.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?prodtype=Body%20Kits%20-%20Front&id=118&cat=A4%2096-01) RS4 Front Bumper: $200.00
Vis RS4 Side Skirts (http://www.visracing.com/newcatalog/Audi/A4/1996-2001-A4/Body-Kit-195/Side-Skirts-196): $200.00
UBTuning RS4 style Rear bumper: $563.00
OEM B5 A4/S4 Avant spoiler: $450.00+ dealership/? junkyard
No widened sheet-metal...but aside from that, visually identical to the real thing. Wasn't sold stateside, a couple imported, but few would notice anyway.
-------------------------------------------
Other Options
lltek B5 A4/S4 Grill: $75.00 E-bay auction (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Audi-B5-A4-S4-96-01-FRONT-BUMPER-MESH-GRILLE-LLTEK-Genuine-Original-/130631498883?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2001|Model%3AA4&vxp=mtr&hash=item1e6a3e7c83)(Awesome deal. New one is $220.00!!!)
You could get the rear RS4 emblem for $20.00 and the front grill clip-on S4 logo $20.00
Red/Clear LED Taillights (http://www.ebay.com/itm/96-01-AUDI-A4-S4-LED-ALTEZZA-TAIL-LIGHTS-RED-CLEAR-RC-/270715576952?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AA4|Submodel%3AAvant&vxp=mtr&hash=item3f07e7e278): $142.00
lltek/Reiger RS Style ABS plastic Rear Bumper (http://www.lltek.com/riegrtek_A4_B5.htm) (No Vents): $666.00 + $88.00 for the rear support adapter kit
54208
Vis Terminator Carbon Hood: $400-$800 (similar to this (http://www.lltek.com/slideshow/audi_a4_b5_rsr_michigan/pages/unique_customs_michigan_ax2.htm), except for entire hood painted. Vents left carbon finish, similar to the Vorsteiners hoods)

Wow, thanks for all those ideas!
I've always kinda hated something that was overbadged...like putting SS emblems on a 6 cylinder Camaro.....putting RS4 emblems on a 1.8t would be just as bad.
Not big on body kit stuff...if I were going to do anything like that, I'd go for factory style S4 side skirts and front bumper. For the grill, I'd like more of a factory style RS4 grill with the emblem and trim like this one. They are pretty expensive though.

Ultimately....and this is down the road after a couple other project are done...if I keep this car, I want to buy a wrecked/salvage B7 or B8 RS4, and pretty much swap the entire drivetrain, wiring, gauge clusters, some of the interior, etc. into the Avant.

I just bought an 08 Passat wagon with the 2.0 turbo in November for my daily driver as well, fun cars to drive and they are very peppy for what they are!
