I am in the process of making some upgrades to my 84 Monte Carlo. New motor, trans, exhaust etc. The overall condition of the paint is pretty nice and the frame is solid. Budget doesnt lend itself to pulling body and doing a full tear down to fully strip and paint underbody. However it was undercoated with oil by the guy I bought it from over ten years ago. Very bad idea IMO. Aside from just being so nasty it has started to cause some damage were rust is starting behind the dried undercoat. Now that all brake lines are out engine and trans are on there way out, its a good opportunity for me to try to get as mush of this crap off as I can. keep in mind the guy sprayed it everywhere...every nook and cranny. Aside from just scraping my life away is there anyone who has used a hot pressure washer or chemical spray or??? to help. Any help is much appreciated.

Heat gun works great. If you don't have one use a propane torch heat a little and comes off like butter. Finish up with mineral spirits..let soak a few minutes and wipes right off. My car was covered with it including interior...ugh. it's a dirty messy job no matter how you do it .
PS------be careful with torch if you still have gas tank or lines.

the torch works good.
If you wear pretection you can use paint striper too.

I have always had good luck with needlers/scalers...they work great.
