Christmas is coming up and i want to treat myself by buying some pro-touring mods for my 69 camaro.
Biggest thing i feel is i need something to help with traction (currently i have a stock 10 bolt rear end, not sure of the exact rear end ratio. but this weekend i plan on jacking her up and finding out).
My buddy keeps telling me to buy a TrueTrac and new tires and that will fix all my problems.
Any input on this or ideas what else to buy?

I'm assuming your talking a stock 10 bolt single legger? A posi unit will help. Eaton has treated me well for years and makes a good posi unit......old tires will brake loose easy.......old skinny tires even easier. A 360 tread wear tire will brake loose faster than a 200 tread wear tire. Adjustable rear shocks can help with weight transfer.

69 camaro traction help

Tru trac posi
rear sway bar(helwig adjustable) middle hole on the adjustment
adjustable shocks (QA1) set to 5 for the track, 3 for the street
a 200 tread wear tire on a fat as possible rear rim (9 plus inches)

that's a good start, what does the car have to start with now???

Hey if your looking for a good guy to deal with call West Coast Differentials at 1-800-309-9342 ext 110. This is who I call for all my needs on rearends Talk to Mike great guy. he can hook you up woth gears, posi unit, install kit ,axles (superior axles are supposed to be 10 to 20 % stronger than stock ones), what ever you need. I rebuilt a 8.8 truck rear end few years back and got all the parts for like $805 shipped, gears, install kit, axles, big jar of marking compound, posi, axles. local shop found me different housing, all of customers parts I used were backing plates, rear cover and pinion yoke(it was badly work out)!Good Luck

Also, keep in mind that the axle shafts are going to see a lot more twist AND side load if you go to a better tire and LSD. If they're old axle shafts, I'd pop them out and check for wear in the outer bearing area. Nothing like watching your rear tire roll by as you grind to a stop on the backing plate....

Perfect list. I will most likely build my rear end just like this.
Currently: Air shocks, 15x8 Craiger SS with old BFgoodrich T/As, and everything else is pretty much stock from my understanding.
This is the set up that came with the car when i bought it, and ive been anxious for awhile to change it up.
I'm currently a full time college student so i'm having to gradually knock things off my to-do/buy list. but i figured it's time to bite the bullet. lol
