At work today we had to change a fuel pump on a 02 ford mustang. And after removing the fuel tank this valve was on the end of the fill tube. when filling the gas tank up the fuel entering the tank would open the valves when you stop filling the tank the valve would close. If This valve was installed on our early muscle cars it would stop the fuel from coming out of the filler neck on hard acceleration. What you think

What are the dimensions of this valve? I have streaks and stains in my paint from the gas coming out of the filler spout. It makes sense to have a one way valve somewhere in the filler spout.

Sorry but I didn’t take measurement ill check the tube diameter tomorrow but the fill tube is made of metal it would be a easy fix for a 67 /68 camaro

I love that valve idea.

The reason gas comes out the filler neck on hard acceleration is because you are using a vented gas cap. If you put that device in your filler neck, you might not have a working tank vent. If you don't have a tank vent, then you'll create a vacuum in your tank by pumping gas out of the tank without being able to have air replace it.

And that's not good.

So he stops the fuel from sloshing out the filler neck, and makes a vent somewhere else on the tank. It'll just slosh out there too. There's got to be a better way.

There's got to be a better way. There is a better way. Use a non-vented cap, add a vent port on your tank or filler neck, and utilize a II Much Fabrication fuel vent. The fuel vent allows filtered air to replace gas as it's consumed, easy fillups, and prevents fuel slosh and smell.

If you pull a vacuum on the tank the vacuum will overcome the spring and will open the valve to equalize the pressure you can tell the spring isn‘t very strong. The valve will allow air in but not the fuel out.

I have the same issue with or with out a non-vented cap. My filler tube is located mid bumper behind the plate. And my tank is vented on the top near the axle with a tube that goes through the trunk floor and returns.
I have two ideas that might work.
1. Extend the filler tube to reach the back of the fuel tank Similar to a "Jet Extensions for a Carburetor" but keep the fill tube to the top of the tank. Use a larger diameter tube and flatten it some.
2. install something like this.

COMMENTS PLEASE.
