I am working on a K-5 and learned a lot on this site.
Saw this thread over there and thought I would share.
Note to self, don't haul an acetylene bottle in an enclosed vehicle.

Holy crap, he came out of it much better than I would have imagined. I'm guessing he didn't have a cylinder valve guard on it like he was supposed to if it got "bumped" on ...

There are example pictures at the local welding supply shop like this. Some are unbelievable.

Thanks for posting this, Bill. I think I'll print it out and take it to my local welding supplier to post.

It had to be one of those Binford tanks designed to accelerate the speed of the power windows to open. Hey watch this: I can open my window faster than anyone !!!

He is very lucky it didn't blow the second he opened the door and the dome lights came on, all good connections there. But those power window switches spark everytime they make a connection.

This is why I don't have a power trunk lock on my car. With my tank in the trunk area I have the potential for fumes to build up in that area by a fitting or line failure and just a loose fill cap when closed and make it so the trunk release could trigger an explosion. Not likely but it could. So make sure your remote trunk release mechanisms can't spark or get fumes inside of them to trigger an explosion. I know I am not the only one around here with a fuel cell in the trunk.

i don't think the transporting was the issue here. Few mistakes, allegedly not having a boobie cap, not checking the valve, no safety plug, leaving the cylinder in the car for a long period of time and operating anything while knowing that the Green Dragon was occupying the interior of your car.
Proof that the Gene pool has no life guards but apparently a few floating lucky noodles.

How is his hearing? I am amazed that was his only complaint injury wise.

I haven't talked to him since it happened (earlier this week) but my understanding was he had a scrape on his head and blew out one of his ear drums, other then that just thankful to be alive!

It's pretty obvious to everyone but remember, if you ever smell anything flammable never do anything to create a spark. Not only did this guy use his electric windows but HE STARTED THE ENGINE! Almost got himself killed!

Wow just doesn't say enough. I don't beleive there are words to describe that.

His Tonka Toy wasn't quite Tonka Tuff enough to handle an explosion like that.
