As some of you may know, after 7 years of building my 68 camaro, and 2 weeks from being finished i had a house fire and lost everything. Ive argued with the insurance enough to get a good start on another car, but not enough to buy a comparible built one as i had hoped. Cant spend tons of time in the garage this time with a 2 year old daughter so im looking for any connections on here to see if i can still build her the way i wanted to. I've been doing all the searching I can for a replacement car for my 68 camaro but nothing is exactly what i'm looking for, at least none I can afford lol. A friend has offered me his 67 Camaro at a good price so i will probably be starting with that. It is already stripped down to a roller and the rear lower quarters cut off, it was at a body shop that decided to not finish it. I'm looking for anybody with connections to a shop that will make me a good deal on backhalfing the car, and then a complete paint job. My overall goal is going to be a pro-touring style car. I have found a LS6/T56 setup for it. Its getting tubbed because im planning to run 20x15 rear wheels with MT Sportsman SR 29x18.5 tires and 18x8 on front. Big brakes, shortened 9 inch rear, 6 point cage with super low door bars for easy access. ( Dont care if it passes tech, its a street car ), DSE Electric RS headlight kit, Air Ride style suspension front and rear for adjustable ride height. I want to be able to sit it about 3 inches above the ground, and raise it for speed bumps and rough roads, and possibly a heidts complete front frame/clip or a comparible setup. Those are the basic highlights. Please let me know if anybody knows somebody for the chassis and body work. Looking to start ASAP if I can find one I can afford. I'm not going to be able to afford a $20k paint job so if its a super highend shop it probably wont work. Wish I could tho. My last Camaro took me 7 years to build. I'm hoping to build this one much faster, I want to drive it a bit before the next deployment. Also if anyone has a hookup for any of the parts listed above or any other parts required for this type of build please let me know. Anything helps. Thanks, T.

To bad you are so far away. I could help you build that car. I even have rust free 67 coupe.

If you're willing to bring it to GA, I have a friend who does chassis work on the side (he does a lot of stuff for Kurgan, and was a builder at Year One). You'd have to talk pricing with him, but he's very capable and will probably do it a lot cheaper than a typical chassis shop. Either he or I could do the body metalwork, depending on the schedule. If you're interested, PM me.

Joe, then you'd have two builds from Texas customers!

Pm sent to joe, I'm not scared of a road trip if its going to save a decent amount. Will just have to plan it out for taking leave from the army.

If your willing to send it to OK, we can put together a comprehensive quote for you so you know exactly what your going to spend. As long as the sheetmetal is solid it can be painted for well under $20k.

Another option, I have a mini tub 68 body shell roller, all sheetmetal finished, Mini tubs installed, Aftermarket subframe in it. In Epoxy primer. Depending on how we sell it can be bought in the teens, just needs final bodywork and paint?
