Im glad that both of them crashed, and didnt hurt anyone else. Street racers are a special kind of dirtbag.

With so many great legal programs to participate in performance driving, WHY? WHY? WHY? must people continue and do #%#* like this that gives us all a bad wrap!

The kid of the left was 23....what 23 year old has a C6 vette? Especially one that needs to cry to mommy after an accident?

That is a good example of high performance cars with low performance drivers.

I hope they both lose their license, as well as get booted from their insurance companies (racing should negate any claims). Hopefully someone gave the video to each of their insurance companies! I have no respect for people that race on the street. There are tracks all over the place, as well as autocross courses to race on; they could have easily killed someone.

Maybe you guys above can throw stones, but I cannot.

Not at all saying that it is ok and that should not have happened, but I am not innocent like y'all must be. I have done the same thing in the past, but thankfully the Lord has protected me from "stupid" many times till I learned there is a time and place. Guess you guys learned that earlier than most.

I live in a glass house myself...thus I keep my stones in my pockets :-)

My Stones is what would get me in trouble...

It is my Brains that better keep me out of trouble...

I have had my Car 28 years, and I have been very bad in the past.

As we get older, we need to find the place to get on it, not because somebody tried to push my buttons..

Someone at EVERY light wants a piece of me...

It is my job to be responsible...And I better be...

I still have a hard time seeing how people screw up that badly on a straight, flat piece of ground.

EDIt: Ok on second glance, maybe it wasn't as straight as I originally thought, but really...taking a trip down through the trees <rolls eyes> geez.

I always laughed at some of the mustang weenies in the 80's-90's and how they always tried to yank the wheel a little when they shifted gears.....makes it feel faster I guess!! LOL. May have been the same thing here.

Just looking at the wheels on the C5, I could tell the driver was an idiot!

I just hate it when the media uses the term "Drag Racing" to describe this.

They are not drag racing, they are street racing. Drag Racing take place on a Drag Strip, which most, (at least any I will race at) have taken many steps to ensure the saftey of the particapents and the spectators.

Wonder what made the driver decode to get out his camara and film this?

Unfortunatly this is a world wide problem. Only last week we had a couple of guys drag racing when 1 lost control and hit a tree and ended up dead a couple days later. What made it worse was that the guy that survived had a 3 year old kid in his car. This was at approx 11pm.

In the interview of the videographer, he said the two cars were playing with each other before they got to that light. I woulda had camera in hand also!!

the Lord has protected me from "stupid" many times till I learned there is a time and place. Guess you guys learned that earlier than most. The Lord doesn't protect me at all, but I was lucky a few times as a teenager/young adult. I don't street race, and haven't for decades. I've noticed that the more track time I get, the slower I drive on the street. :)

It's ok to condemn this behavior, even if some of us have done it in the past. Nobody's perfect, and sometimes our emotions get the better of us, but we all know street racing is wrong. Right?

Some people believe in luck and some don't. Whatever works for you at this point, I know what works for me!

And as I said, I Am not saying that it should not have happened......meaning they deserved what they got for being stupid. I'm just thankful that I have not always got what I deserved.

The Woodlands is a well to do area, it's nothing for kids to drive vehicles around like this. About a year ago they had a kid from this area posting videos of his speedometer going past 160 on youtube. Not long after that he was killed flying down a feeder road where he some how lost control and flew into the top of a building. It is crazy. I remember when we were younger we would find a road out in the middle of nowhere with no houses or cars on it to do our thing. The cars were allot slower then.

This thread is also a good example of what happens when you post a video of your car breaking the law. I always remember the guy in the F40 that got his tickets and summons in the mail after the police saw the video of him going over 150mph on a highway passing cars.

Careful who has the camera going on around you! and with everyone carrying a phone capable of capturing you it is a whole different world these days.

it also reminds me of that idjit in the new Dodge truck that rolled it doing a burnout a couple of years ago... i think he got busted for insurance fraud, too..

i always love these street racing threads on all the different boards.. it always brings out the people that claim that they never, ever under any circumstances properly utilize the loud pedal on their 500hp cars on the streets..

I think it would be safe to say that if I was the camera car I would have been a whole lot closer to them and it probably would have gotten real interesting when Mr. Chain Saw got whiskey. Did anyone notice that the C5s plate says "CHN SAW" yet he clearly uses a C6 for his tree trimming?!

I live about 10 minutes from this location and it is not uncommon for two "fast" cars to be around each other and catch a light at the same time in this area so I have had those temptations before and seeing someone catch it on film is an eye opener. Cant get away with anything anymore with all of the technology.

It was easier to do this stuff away from populated areas back when there were still unpopulated areas. Now the average young wealthy suburban punk would have to drive for 2 hours to get a clear spot to do that. And after 2 hours he would be so far away from his familiar turf, that he still wouldn't know the good local safe places when he got near some.

I hesitate to even call these guys "street racers". More likely, just two spoiled brat rich kids, or some gold chainers who bought a Corvette as a status symbol. I have been out of the street racing scene for about 12 years, and while I have seen some stupid moves, most at least have the good sense to do it in a deserted industrial complex, or some other area that can be more controlled.

I'm all for doing it at the track, but even here in the Atlanta area you'd have to drive an hour and a half to get to a sanctioned 1/4 mile track, and nearly as long to get to an 1/8th mile track, so its not like they are everywhere. Its funny, as a kid I was forbidden from taking my car to the drag strip, but I street raced it on a deserted road practially every weekend. Granted, that was nearly 30 years ago, in a rural county of less than 10k people.
