1st off im not sure were to post this ?......

this ? is not for my protouring car, but for my 90 awd mazda protege winter ride,i did a dohc bp swap and homemade turbo set-up.
well the gas tank leaked and needed repair, the straps and heat sheild are rotted/rusted away...

well i just restored the gas tank, made new straps, still have to make a replacement heat sheild ect, ect. well these parts are not around or available anymore or are high priced.

well cause of the driveshaft mazda made a weird gas tank, they call it a saddlebag style, ie the driveshaft and exhaust run thru the middle, there is 2 sumps,1 on each side but still connected in the middle, its hard for me to explain, but i guess you could say it looks like a pair of sunglasses U--U

im still going to make a heat sheild out of sheetmetal, but i want to put some kind of sticky backed heat sheild material on the bottom of the tank also.

what kind of heat sheilding material do you guys reccomend?

tin and fiber glass combo....you'll have to make. you see alot of late model cars with it. forget the stickey stuff.

i made the heat sheild today, but i would love to hear somemore info on heat shielding, maybe i can smash some kind of shielding inbetween the sheild and tank, since this shield mounts to the tank.

Some coating companies can apply a thermal barrier coating to anything you bend up. I've seen it used on turbo housings and under hood exhaust components.
