I am building the car, because I have always wanted to do these kinds of events, and maybe a little drag too.
It started as an 88 V6, now it has a 96 impala SS Ironhead LT1 and 4l60E with a bunch of suspension goodies, great intake and exhaust, and a MEAN 94+ octane pcm tune (I run cam II when I can find it)
Next Is a limited slip rear, Subframe connectors, and a ROLL CAGE!
I :smoke:Hope to be competing and having fun in 2012 !!

Thanks Guys!

There is yet one more project, and this one is going to suck my wallet and bank account and time dry.

71 Plymouth GTX. Fresh FULL paintjob . powder coating in b5 blue, door jams, wheel wells, steering column, underneath, EVERYTHING has been painted and restored...
Now I need to build the drive line.... 440 Block, rebuilt with forged everything. Edlebrock heads and FUEL INJECTION. Perfect fit 5 Speed Transmission, Dayna Rear end.

This is going to take a long time, but heres a pic of where I am at with it!!
I dont know if i am going with that hood, or an Air grabber I have! Raaar

I dont know if you let Japanese cars in to these events.
But my 93 Maxima SE is pretty potent, it had the ve30de motor, stock with 190 hp 190 tq, and runs mid to high 15's in the quarter.
It has independant macphearson strut suspension, and supposed to be a great drifter car.
It pulls hard, and when I Upgrade the suspension, exhaust, and a few other things, I think it could compete .

I will probably go subframe, as this will tie all the other UMI parts together and she will be locked down.

Goal for camaro is to have a sweet all around car, I have more fun doing technical racing rather than drag, but I can get down.
I will post a bunch of links to all the threads at thirdgen.org that I have posted in regards to the camaro. I havent posted much of anything in regards to the other 3.

thanks!

Looks good. Project Unfair has some great ideas that can inspire you to make your cars even better.

Kool. Are you putting a Wilwood kit on your "Dayna" in the GTX? I have a Dana 60 with the Wilwoods that have the drum style e-brake. If I were doing it over again I would go with the brake kit that didn't have that and just use a Spot caliper for e-brake. Something to think about.

Another thing to think about is your demeanor on pro-touring.com. Whether you intended it or not you alienated yourself with a few of the top builders in the game and the rest of us as well. Your 440 GTX, fuel injected 5 speed, coil-over car with Wilwoods, despite your fantasizing, wouldn't hold a candle to a Prodigy Customs/ JParsons car. It was really out of place for you to antagonize and it was bad form and taste.

Someone else pointed it out but you haven't done anything to set yourself apart from anyone else that can bolt parts onto a 1980's Camaro. Learn HALF as much as the engineer, Jon Parsons, and the revered builder, Prodigy Customs, and you will be smarter than MOST of us here.

Hey kukerdan. We just released our fabricated k-member for your car. We've been playing with our '89 IROC lately! Good luck with your project and let us know how we can help.

Welcome to the community.

Im sorry if those comments came off bad... from reading page 1 of this post I got the idea this was a big money/resource project, and I just felt, given half the money they could come up with an equal or better. Seemed like they had a a hundred thousand to throw around, and just felt like instead of starting from a rusty frame, they could have got a nice roller or design an all new frame and cnc / weld it up.

I have engineer friends too, I have taken car parts and even ATV parts into a machine shop to have the HAAS do custom work / mods. Such as a new bearing seat, or lighter Control arms. Ive been around cars, and car fanatics (and became one.) my entire life.

I am more of a computer expert, than a car expert. My family business is auto repair, I worked at the shop one summer as a teen and did inspections, oil change, tires, brakes, fluids, tune ups, etc.
I have never built, or even torn open an engine by my self.
Most of the work done on my cars was done mostly by myself and a friend in my shop on weekend nights. I get to use the lift and tools.
I may never have done serious work, but I have a good time designing my cars, and figuring out what works.
Putting and LT1 in an 88 base Camaro might not seem like a huge deal, but a lot of people I knew personally told me it was going to be this big impossible task, and the wiring was going to be a nightmare, and yada yada yada. I figured it out my self, with help from all data and the thirdgen forums.
It took 2 years to get the money, parts and time to build the car.

The GTX project is going to be the first time I start from a block that will be built 100% from the ground up. It seems like a huge mountain to climb. Ive always liked Mopars but its a huge investment in time and money and I'm intimidated.
The car is basically a roller right now, 100% restored, and paint B-5 blue inside and out. I need to put everything in to the car, I have most of the interior and trim, I need to build the drivetrain, and possibly revamp the suspension and bushings. Fuel injected, 5 speed 440 with a nasty dayna rear seems like a good idea. I would also like to modernize the suspension and brakes a bit. I think it could be a really awesome, drivable and very fast car.

Sorry if I pissed anyone off
Peace

I forgot to mention that I am not trying to compete against professionals, I just want to have some fun with my cars. Who knows? maybe I'll do good.
