Over this summer I bumped into the a guy in my home town that bought this car from his brother who bought it from me about 8 years ago. I havent seen it since I sold it. His brother only put 2k miles on it since I sold it. He smacked it up a bit and blew the tranny...... He let the car sit basically 8 years. 3 years in a garage then out side.... So I was able to get it back cheap so I did.I originally bought this car about 6 months after I graduated high school and owned it for 10 years. I let it sit for the last 2 years at my parents house. This guy I went to high school with knocked on his door one day and Dad sold it. At the time I was just getting my business going and had no time or money to do anything with car so I let it go. I always regreted it. So here I am with my first hot rod!!!! Car still runs great. Had a bunch of work done to the car in the mid 90's. GT 40 heads, upper and lower intake, b303 cam mass air ect. it was a fast street car back then ran a low 12's with drag suspension and slicks ad skinnies. Going to try to a budget Pro-tour street set up with it.
Here are some pics so far...

I have wanted to see a FOX Mustang given the Pro-Touring treatment. Will be watching this. I have been building the FOX Mustangs for 21 years. Nothing I have done has ever been more than drag racing or the mild street carver. Nothing that I would say really enhanced the handing and braking to be out of this world.

Any idea of the suspension and brake route you may be going with this? I want to do a full chassis on one some time.

Cool!

My DD is a 95 with a 5.0. I have done some suspension and brakes. Mine pulls .96Gs on freeway onramps. Not too bad.

Good luck withyour build.

Ive been trying to find my first car a 79 Mercury Capri for the last couple years. Only chance I had was going back and try to get the DMV to try and get my vin from my old tag. I was told that was now illegal. Once the car is sold , it was an invasion of privacy to try and find the vehicle. LOL. Anyway, good luck on your build and im diffently subscribing.

Good to see a 5.0 project here! I have owned 2 (a Vortech blown 5 speed coupe, and a GT convertible that was mostly stock when I sold it), and really want to build another one day. Like most 5.0 guys, mine were more drag oriented, but the next one won't be.

I would love to find my first car again. I had a 1987 Camaro Sport Coupe with a 305. I would do a budget 5.3L buildup and turn it into an autocross machine.

Awesome Vinnie!... I still miss my 90 lx 5.0/5 speed, I bought right after high school... 190,000 miles on the motor/trans and it ran like a top... most of those miles with my foot through the floor too..haha...

Good Luck with the build!

My wife has a 90 GT that she bought brand new. She really wants me to finish my Camaro so I can start on her Mustang.
Great story on your GT, glad to hear you got it back. Nothing like your first hot rod.
Good luck and we will both be watching your progress.

I had a 90 LX coupe that had 186k on the clock when I got it. I put on some Trick Flow twisted wedge heads, a custom cam,Mac longtubes with Mac Prochamber mid-pipe and Flowmaster cat-back, 4.30 gears, Centerforce dual friction clutch and a Tremec 3550 trans.

On 6yr old 26x8" slicks it ran 12.20's with a 1.6 60ft. On my buddies fresh 26x10" slicks I pulled a 1.48 60ft and ran 11.92 @ 116mph launching @ 5000 rpm(I usually launch it @ 6k) and granny shifted it @ 5500.
I was told not to come back until I put a roll bar in the car:(

I have a soft spot for them and if they ever open another track on this rock I'll build another one.....

Good luck with your project and take lots of pics for us here :D

Haven't been on here in a while....... the car is in primer now. Had it media blasted, replaced floor pans, rad support and had all holes filled in the engine bay so it is all smooth now. I picked up a really clean roller and stripped a bunch of parts of it like the hood doors and hatch. it has a good interior as well.. I could of just put a motor in the roller I bought and had a nice car but I want my old car back ! lol Progress has been slow since i have so much going on lately and i don't want to cut corners on this car just to regret it later. I'll get some pics up soon.... As far as suspension go's I probably going with maximum motorsports full package, and a coyote swap with a T-56
Its great to see some love for fox body's o here!!!!!
