Prices seem pretty high. I paid less than that for a set of new C6 take off calipers, pads and brackets. That C5 stuff is way high as well, especially for crusty rotors and calipers.

So chuck where in the heck have you bought "new" take off cheaper. So far I have yet to find ANY 6C stuff in complete set ANYWHERE for less than $1000. Heck even from NAPA I would have more than this in JUST calipers, and besides if I want to run Corvette brakes on my Monza I am limited to 17 in wheels so these would fit, C6 Z06 WONT, or at least according to my research.
And as for crusty, personally those dont look very crusty, I am a tech by trade and yeah some one didnt polish them up before taking a picture, bet the calipers would wipe down and look pretty good. and supposedly this was a working system so all you would have to do is bolt on, bleed and go, if pads were still good, and rotors looked clean enough, then if you wanted to upgrade pads and rotors down road or have stock stuff to swap in for race pads/rotors as mixing pads back and forth can make ill handling and squeaking brakes. Pads bed into the rotors, I have had several people with issues by swapping pads alone. So they swap pads AND rotors together.
And yes I know 20 billion people will tell me I am stupid but the pads and rotors mate just like piston rings and cylinders. so why mix them

Corvette forums. This stuff is pretty bad, and the weak link in these cars. Guys that actually use their corvettes find that the weak link is the factory brakes and they upgrade to AP Racing, Stoptech, and Performance Friction Components among others. When they get a good caliper you can buy their take offs dirt cheap.

I purchased a set of C6 Z06 front and rear calipers NIB with a full set of pad bolts at Fall Carslise for $800. Some guy had bought them for a project and changed his mind and was selling them. So C6 brakes are out there for reasonable prices. Like Slo Z28 said they are common for sale items on the Corvette forums. These are more brake than I will ever need.

Dont get me wrong I am sure for SEVERAL thousand dollars I can buy lots of high dollar parts,,but then I have zero cash to spend on other things,, like the car,, then I have a several thousand in brakes and no engine, no trans, no wheels, no tires, no paint,,,,.
For a small price, I might have much better brakes than the stock S10 stuff.
Gee whiz its not like everyone can spend thousands on brakes, and for a 3000lb car like my Monza AS big as Ican fit inside 17 in wheels will be way more than I can used.
And so far for a set of rotor and calipers (heck I can rebuild calipers) its still not bad price.

Its pretty high. I was into my first C5 conversion for less than $500 on the front, including hubs, brackets, rotors, calipers, and lines.

corvetteforums, ls1tech, ebay, even the classifieds here. My c6 calipers, brackets, pads and bolts was less than $250 shipped on ebay. I picked up a set of crusty c5 brackets, calipers and pads for $240 from a guy on corvetteforum. If you want to get upset, take a comment about brakes personally and rant about whatever because I said the prices were high that's fine, pay more if you want to. These are parts corvette people can't get rid of fast enough, they aren't rare or elusive pieces.

Maybe you should start visiting local salvage yards. I picked mine up front/rear for $125.
