Yeah, I couldn't believe it, but I got the email today! Tomorrow I get the invoice to reserve my spot on the grid. Now I have until May to just tweak the car and put final touches on it. I can't believe I'm going to do this.

I don't remember there being a prize for the Gumball, just a trophy right? More of a point to point rally with really sweet parties every night?

I thought $3,400 but then re-read...damn! Guess that's where sponsorships come in! What kind of $ could you expect from sponsors? This is a bucket list of mine as well...

Yeah, the money is for the hotels, parties, charity, etc. They hand out trophies at the end for different themes along the rally.
I'm in a bit of a situation though as I had a couple commitments from my buddies that they would do it if the car got accepted. Now, they are back peddling and I'm waiting for one of them to put in their money. I talked with the Gumball rep this morning and there are 15 slots left that will most likely be filled by the end of the month. I really don't plan on paying for the entire thing by myself as that is a lot of cash that could be put into one of my cars. Hopefully one of them steps up soon, because I really don't want to do something like this with a stranger.

For those who are surpised by the price, the Gumball that happened a few years back where it went round-the-world and Russian cargo jets transported the cars, I believe the cost on that one was $100,000 for the entry.

Yeah, like the year that started in Europe and they flew the cars to Thailand, then they ran the final leg from SLC to the Playboy Mansion. That would have been a tight one.

If you put up the cash and go after sponsors aggressively you should be able to get enough back to make it worthwhile.

The car is basically done. The supercharger install was supposed to happen a few months ago, but it got set back. Should happen this month. To go with it I have an LEP blower cam, PRC 2.5 heads, MSD coil packs and a Devil's Own Methanol kit. Also putting in the custom carpet and waiting on the AFX spindles to come in (back ordered). I threw around the idea of doing the Roadster Shop IRS, but if I have to eat a bunch of money on the entry... I probably won't.

Yeah, I'm limited to two stickers on the car though, the rest are Gumball sponsors. I don't think many companies would sponsor if I couldn't get a sticker on the car.

We did Bull run 2 years in a row, $10K will get you in, same thng as Gumball. Personally, I was really disappointed. You will find yourself with a muscle car on the outside looking in at all the Ferrari and Lambo guys. They have ZERO respect for old muscle and look at you like, what is that thing! Even when you roll up on them at a buck fifty you still get very little respect.
It was a bucket list item. I got to do it with a customer, been there done that.
$34K for Gumball.........No way! Do Bullrun and mark it off your bucket list

Just curious...what is your definition of "done"...? :)
