I may have picked the wrong picture to show the overlap of the edge on the roof panel. The added picture shows the a-pillar and the over-hang much better. I am guessing the extra material is left over from the stamping process and needs to be trimmed or is this the worse fitting roof panel ever made :)

I am just starting to fit the new roof panel on to my 1969 Camaro. This is the first roof panel that I have ever installed and I had a question. The edge of the panel has a 90-degree lip that as far I can tell needs to be trimmed to allow the drip-rail to fit correctly. The attached picture show the lip that I am talking about. The lip doesn't overlap as much on the passenger side as it does the driver side but the passenger side would need to be trimmed also. Any advice would be appreciated.

what stamping do you have? I replaced one on a 67 and it only took only a small amout of fitting. My lip from the line you have marked to the edge of the metal is .31. By the way do you have the roof and the 1/4's off at the same time? I did the 1/4's first then the roof after I got the car back together.

don't cut anything yet. yes, drip rails first then the quarters then the roof.

it kinda shoe horns in...tip one side into the drip rails then carefully pry the other side in. That lip is how you weld the roof to the top of the drip rails

The roof panel have is a Goodmark panel. I tried to hold out and get an AMD but the vendor I buy my sheet metal from didn't have one in stock. The guy I buy from is local and I meet him at local shows to pickup the big parts to save the shipping charges. He was in the process of swithcing over to all AMD inventory but just didn't have the roof in stock.

MrQuick,

Your advice is exactly the same as I received from my posting over on the Team Camaro site. Thanks for the reply. My new plan is to get the drip rail in place with the 2 new quarter panels and then fit the roof.
