I am having second thoughts on how low my car is going to sit in the front. I have 1" drop springs that will be going in and I'm using stock spindles. I will be using 18" wheels because of the c5 brakes. I want to see how low people's cars are sitting with the spindles vs the springs or if you have both. I want to be able to turn the car without worry since I want to take it to the local track. So if you have an Abody with one or both of the mentioned parts post a pic or two please.
thanks.

I can't believe this is the only picture I can find of our LeMans but I hope this helps a little. It is 1" lowering springs and stock spindles with 17" wheels.

That looks pretty good. I may want to go lower though. Thanks for the pic. What are you running on the rear of the car.

Im running eibach springs and short afx spindles, C5 brakes and 18's in the front. I put 3000 miles on this setup over the summer and had no problems with clearance. If i remember correctly my fender height was 23.5-24, but I'd have to double check. Only problem I have is the headers hang to low but I put those headers on long before it was lowered51588

Took another shot today. Mine are 17" up front and I don't have any rubbing issues with the 1" drop.

I thank both of you for the pics. I think I'm going to just run it with one inch springs and see how I like it. That GTO looks about right, just hoping that 18" wheels don't make the fender gap any larger.
That El Camino looks great with that stance, if I decide that the one inch doesn't do it for me with the 18's, I'll definitely be buying some spindles.
Thanks again guys.

My front tire is a 225/50/17 which is 25.9" tall if that helps. A 225/45/18 is the same height at 25.9" a 245/40/18 will be 25.7"

THrow in some tall ball joints will get you better camber curve and about 1/2" drop if I remember

That's great, looks like I'll be just fine then. Thanks again for the photos. Your car looks great. My Buick is a similar color as your GTO.

I heard about that, I just need to figure out exactly what it is that I will need. I dont have the front suspension together yet since I was trying to figure this out. Do you know where I could go to get the info for the tall ball joints. 1/2" more would probably be perfect.

Didn't realize that the tall ball joints would lower the car, thats good to know. I've been researching rear control arm stuff and am ordering through UMI, haven't decided what to do on the front yet since that is a ways away. They do have a kit for 64-67 a-body cars though with the 1/2" taller ball joint. Here it is. http://www.umiperformance.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_250_269&products_id=622

Keep in mind that wheel back spacing is going to have a lot to do with rubbing also.

Very true! When I ordered my wheels from (lets just say a sponsor on here...) well they told me he knew what b.s. I needed with my car being lowered. The fronts are good but guess what, the rears were getting torn up on the sidewalls because he didn't know what I needed afterall... Ended up having to raise the rear of my car with airbags until I can modify my wheel well arches out back or have a different wheel built.

That kit is nice but I won't be able to swing for the whole setup with the a-arms, I'll have to just do the tall ball joints with the stock a-arm for now.
I don't have wheels yet, I'm just going to use some rollers that I have to move it around till it's moving under it's own power then I'll use the Kore3 template to figure out my backspacing needs.
I appreciate all the help on this subject, I am now set with what to do and how to do it. Just waiting till after christmas so I can order the rest of the stuff.

Hey guys. Just to clarify. Tall upper ball joints don't raise or lower the car, just the lower ones do. We published the camber curve data for our G-body arms and will also publish the curve for the A-body very shortly. The 1/2" taller uppers are a true bolt-on with no potentially negative effects. Tall lowers help the camber curve but offset that with bumpsteer issues. We hope to show the positives and negatives (and solutions) through published data and solid engineering testing.
You can add a-arms with 1/2" taller uppers without doing anything to the lower or spring, spindles, etc. Just enjoy the improved handling then upgrade to lowers and other specialties later. The mods truly are additive.
Let me know how UMI can help.

Bump, I am wondering the same thing. Drop spinals or lowering springs. Coil overs or air bags. So many options with my 240\45\18 up front.
Any abody pics would be awesome.

Here's a few that might help you. Also if you decide on drop spindles UMI now makes stock height springs with performance rates, this way the car would actually drop 2" instead of 3-4" while using a lowering spring. Anymore that 2" and things start to get low and suspension travel is limited such as shock travel ect.
