I want to first acknowledge that I am in no way any type of genius or incredibly knowledgable of any type of muscle car....So, I bought a '69 camaro on a whim from a friend and something in me decided to dump a lot of time and money into this thing to make it a classic or a pro-street car solely based on the fact that I've always liked the lines of the '69 camaro. I bought it as a driver, which, when I was driving it for the week or two I physically had it, it did not give me any problems what-so-ever. Since then, it has been given an all new interior; seats, dash, console, headliner and everything in between. Also, because it is currently down to bare metal at a metal/fab shop, I have the option of tubbing it or just going the regular route to making it a good looking classic. Anywho, I have been told it has the almighty x11 code, which I assume would possibly make it a SS car...anyway, I thought some people on here could help me out and tell me what it is worth. I'm at a point where I really should probably sell it so I can be smart financially, but I am afraid I will not be able to get what I've put in it.

Please forgive me if this car is not what I perceive it to be in my description. I am in no way trying to misrepresent it.

Year: 1969
Car: Chevrolet Camaro
Vin: 124379N647698 14N229089

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any please keep any negative comments to a minimum, I know I'm already up to my neck in this thing.

As you can tell in the pictures, the guy I bought it from had it dressed as a z/28 when he had no idea about the x11 code.

Pictures were taken before any work was done. Also, all sheet metal is being replaced; that obviously includes the tunnel and floorpans, etc.

questions and comments are welcome; offers as well. Was going for the HRE wheels '69 camaro look, but I'm stuck at the moment. Really do not want to dump more than 5k into it on top of the 30k it currently has (obviously not shown in the pictures); call me stupid. And I havent even touched the paint, motor or suspension/wheels.

It looks to be in good shape...

Post everything that is on the Trim Tag, which is attached to the drivers side firewall.
Those codes will help in identifying what you have.
Also, does it have a 12 bolt rear?
does it have front disc brakes?
does it have single-leaf or multi-leaf rear springs?
does it have a brake prop valve attached to the frame under the drivers door?

$30k used to be a lot...but times have changed. Looks like you got a pretty nice car for the money. The VIN tells us that it came with a V8, but not which one. If the trim tag has the X11 code on it, then pretty sure it's not a real Z. X11's could be an SS350 though (but no guarantee).

If you intend on restoring it to factory condition then this would be important, but if you are going to customize or pro-tour it, it probably doesn't matter. If it has a 302 in it, that would be worth some money. Could sell the motor to help finance the project. Just a thought.

Also, make sure you replace that driver's seat...looks pretty damn uncomfortable! :)

Congrats on the new car!

LOL.

It definitely is NOT a Z28, just due to the automatic trans and wrong rear bumper guards.

IMO: If it proves to NOT be an SS, you will never get your money back on it.

It does have front discs, however it has a 10 bolt rear end; but couldn't have that been swapped somewhere down the road? Also, it has multi leaf suspension and the prop valve is near the master cylinder and not underneath the driver side door.

If I'm not going to be able to get my money back or anywhere near it, I'd rather just sell it or trade it because I need to be saving for a house.

I've always known it isn't a "z" car. The emblems were put on by a previous owner.

The rear end could have been changed, buy WHY would you?
And with the missing brake valve on the frame, I would say it's NOT an SS.... Sorry.
An SS would also have 2 fuel lines going to the tank.

You can find more info here on what an SS would have...http://www.camaros.org/diffs69.shtml

Good luck.

Ouch. Well, I guess knowing what has been said, how much is this worth or better yet, how much could I get for her (assuming all that will "need" to be done is paint and dressing up the motor)?
