i have a 96 chevy truck and want to up grade the uppers and lowers then do big brakes. but i cant seem to find anyone that sales a spindle to change over to a bigger brake set up. i was thinking of seeing if the 72 chevelle spindle is the same cuz i know they sale bolt on stuff for them. can someone point me in the right spot or help me with some info. thanks

I know they make a drop spindle for the 96, I had a set installed back in 96. As far as big brakes fitting on it, have you seriously looked into a package FOR the truck? That family of trucks / SUVs was very popular after all.

I'd bet all the tea in China that a 72 Chevelle spindle isn't even CLOSE to the same size or geometry.

yeah i called baer brakes and they make a kit but at $3600 for the front is a little far out there.. ive looked all over the web but just keep finding stock size rotors that are drilled an sloted.

Performance Fiction Components makes a 16 inch rotor axial mounted 4 piston monoblock brake kit that is leaps and bounds better than Baer, but also in the $4000 price range.

ive looking around and the front spindles on my truck are no different then on a chevelle, nova, monte carlo, and so on.. i know there not the same geometery but i think the big monte carlo spindles are the same as the truck.. i know on my dirt car we played around using the big spindles on my metric monte carlo till the tech guy no no!

the calipers mount the same so there has to be a hub and a braket to mount say the C5 or Z06 calipers to my spindles??

I'm not sure where you're getting that the truck and car spindles are the same because they're not even close to one another. The only years that were similar that I know of were the 1971-1976 full-size Impala spindles and 1972-1987 HD C1500 spindles. I believe those two spindles only differ in their ball joint/TRE tapers, otherwise they're the same castings, spindle pins, wheel bearings, oil seals, calipers, etc. What makes the 1988-1998 C1500 spindles difficult is that there are no inherently good places to mount an adapter bracket with substantial machining and/or fabrication. I'm fairly certain that Baer's kit includes modified spindles...not sure about Perf Friction's.
