Does anyone know of a good way (not something rigged - want to fix it right) to plug the cam sensor hole in the rear of an LS1 block? I won't need to use it since I'm running an E40 ECM and am converting my engine to a timing cover cam position sensor.

We usually just leave the old sensor back there but unplugged so the hole is covered. If you want something like a plug that is fit for that hole I have no idea, I figure you would have to make something.

Ok I was trying to get out of buying a sensor just to plug the hole.

I'd also leave the sensor there unplugged. Its not like its visible

Can anyone tell me if the sensor provides any oil galley sealing points (like a Gen I distributor does) where if I plug the hole with an expandable freeze plug that it won't cause problems? I was hoping someone knew exactly what size brass or steel freeze plug to use to plug it.

The cam sensors do have an o-ring on them that provides a seal. I don't think you would be able to get an expandable plug to work because that o-ring seals way down at the bottom very close to the cam. I am not sure that a plug would be able to seal all the way in there.

Thanks - I looked at one online last night and noticed the o-ring. I bought a used one on eBay for $15 shipped so that'll take care of the sealing issue. Thanks for everyone's input!
